    Maureen, it’s good that you are identifying some of the specific reasons your grief is so unrelenting. Not being able to say goodbye is a terrible thing. It denies us the chance to bid farewell and say again how much we love them. Romeo was well loved by you all his life and he knew that, do you think? We all wish for a slow, gentle passing (for our pets and ouselves) but it doesn’t always happen that way and we struggle to adjust to the sudden change in everything about our lives without our beloved. I think you are coming up from the depths and hope you allow yourself to include good memories of the long, loving life you shared. We’ll crawl along beside you. {HUGS} Toni

          Leesa, thank you for painting such a fun and sweet picture of Buddy. It is so easy to forget the wonderful years of joy and love when we are feeling the loss so deeply. I hope you keep pulling forward those good times and know you gave Buddy his best life full of frolic and everlasting love. Toni

            • But it was 15 years old and it was a really good dog I wasn’t supposed to have a dog in my apartment is so I trained him to go in and out of a beach bag and every time you would put a school bag down or something he would try to crawl in it because he thought it was going bye-bye my kids used to put them on a boogie board and he would sit on the Boogie Board and they would push him around in the water you could bring him into the store and they would sit with a kid sit in the car and he would just sit there he would just love all the people going up and Pat them

                Good luck with the job hunting. Any special field in which you are looking? Maybe someone here has ideas. June was a real darling and I can really relate to how deep your relationship was after so many years. I had my Squirt for 19 years. We met when I was 23 and she died when I was 42. We went through many life events together and she was my best friend. It is terribly hard to say goodbye but boy, what a joy to share so many years together. I found a stuffed toy helped me get through the night after each of my losses. Perhaps you can find something like that. And yes, please do join our group if you can. It’s very kind, understanding and helpful. I am sending you a {BIG HUG}. Toni

                  Twenty – how special for you both to share a life of love.And how very difficult it is having empty places in your home, and your heart. I am so very sorry, Christina. I find it odd and sad to walk into my house and not have my little darling come running to greet (or yell at) me. I really do use my “ruler” exercise as a way of rethinking: Each inch = 1 year. You and June had 20 “inches” of joy and love, fun and funny times, and just a short bit at the end that was not so good. Now you are adjusting as best you can to a totally new way of living in a completely changed home. It’s hard. I am so glad to have you share with us and hope you’ll join our group meeting July 20th. Links are under “Events”. Until then, please keep us posted and know we are here for you. {{Toni}}

                    Lisa, how sad Baby was so young. Any age is too young, but at least with older pets (and people) we know they had a long run. I hope you are speaking with your professionals about this – they may be able to help you in ways we cannot. What we CAN do is let you know you are among friends who sympathize and support you. Toni

                        Baby was so teeny and adorable, Lisa. I have tears with you, looking at her picture. How old was she? How long were you together? How did you meet? I really want to get to know her, and about your lives together if you’ll share that with us. Do you have people or pets around you to help you through this? I found a stuffed animal I could hold helped me. We are here for and with you, Lisa. We get it and I hope you join our group meeting July 20th to share more. (Links to the meetings are under “Events” on the right side of this page). Sending you a {BIG HUG}. Toni

                          For many of us this 4th of July was the first without our beloved companions. We didn’t have to worry about the fireworks noise, and soothing them. On the good side – they didn’t have to be scared by it all. I just got home from a quick trip (the first in a loooong time since I wouldn’t leave my babies at home without me), and it’s weird coming in knowing no one is here to greet me. ๐Ÿ™ I still find toys and little by little am putting, or giving, them away. I’m not crying, I am just missing them. In some ways it’s easier not having a pet to care for, and I know one day I will open my home and heart to another, probably several. Until then, I am finding joy with my memories, alongside the bits of sorrow that linger. Overall, I am just so darn happy to have had them in my life and that they had a loving home with me. I am touched by every post here, and I read every one. The support, encouragement and kindness in our Community is overwhelming and I am sincerely grateful we are all here. With {{BIG HUGS}} to ALL. Toni

                          • Toni, first 4th without babies, I always had something to greet me when I came home. I miss that, don’t you? Blessings to you. You made an animal feel important. Here’s to making you feel important. With hopes you will love again.

                            Geez .. these fireworks are driving me nuts…imagine what they’re doing to our pets with their superior hearing and smell? PLEASE pay special attention to, and comfort your babies through this holiday. 💕

                            What a wonderful, charming and touching story, Constance. Thank you very much for sharing with us, and please know you are very welcome to continue to do so. I had to chuckle at your creative sweater making, and sleeping in the fuzzy slipper.🤗. Is it typical for tiny dogs to be hypoglycemic, or that breed? That’s tough to manage and you did a great job caring for darling little Gizmo. I am so sorry for your loss, and hope you find more smiles than tears with your lovely, loving and fun memories. Please join us Thursday July 19th for our group meeting. I’d love to meet you. Toni

                              @constancem Hi Constance. Welcome to our caring community. Please tell us about your life with, is it Gizmo?

                              • My lil tiny baby, Gizmo the Gremlin was my everything, my reason for living, my heart! I had NEVER had a tea-cup version of any dog before, and he was so small that he seemed to not be “real”. At 8 weeks he weighed 10 oz, and an entire meal was 7 pieces of puppy food! He was like having a stuffed animal toy that came to life! He was so fiesty & happy & loved to cuddle and be babied. He would climb into my fuzzy slipper to take his naps and several times we thought he was lost because he was so small that we literally couldn’t find him, so we got a kitty collar with bells to keep up with him! He finally got to his adult weight of a whoppibg 2.2 lbs & 6 inches tall! He went everywhere that I went, as he was my ESA, & he had hypoglycemia so I couldn’t leave him alone. Unfortunately, at age 10, he was sick with a upper respiratory infection and was not eating well. He had a bad seizure that he had when he was hypoglycemic and I was in the bathtub. When I got out he had passed away from his illness. Im beyond devestated still…
