Walking in the door of an empty house is one of the hardest parts for me. I am sorry and hope seeing some of her favorite spots brings you a smile (alongside the pangs I know you’re feeling). Mardi was lucky to have your care and love in her twilight years, as you were lucky to share her life. Deliberately recalling the better days can help us remember why we open our homes and hearts. Parting is part of the deal and while we know that in our heads, in our hearts we are broken when it happens. my eyes keep leaking this morning when there is no litter box to clean out and no little furry body telling me it’s time to feed her.. i know this will pass; it’s just that i miss her sooooooooo much right now .. at least i don’t have to worry about her escaping each time i open a door to the outside!
