I actually have “the traveling cat chronicles” I also would recommend it to every pet parent. Believe me when I say you all will get tired of hearing about meesha, lol. While I still cry over missing her her stories actually give me a way to deal with her departure from this life. Yes I have gone on to adopt another rescue, 2 actually, who I love immensely, and the one thing I have learned with rescuing the pain we suffer at loss is evened out somewhat with the joy. Meesha was my ultimate joy ( as will the two I have now I’m sure) I just really miss my meesha girl immensely. -

Hmmm stories about meesha?
I’ll start at the beginning, How Meesha came to be.
I have had animals all my life, growing up on a working farm I’ve had animals of all walks of the animal kingdom.
I can honestly say while I have cared and loved many animals, meesha is the first one I fell in love with (sounds strange worded that way, but if a soul mate could be an animal meesha was mine.)
After the passing of my husband, I had a tough time figuring out how to handle the void. I became involved with rescuing dogs through a local shelter. With each rescue a little of the void would disapate.
I found where I was supposed to be, the look on an animals face after they finally knew love and kindness was like nothing I’d ever witnessed.
Meesha was one of those rescues.
It was instantaneous love.-
Oh, what a lovely, and loving, story, T. So heartfully written and expressive. In the book “The Traveling Cat Chronicles” (I highly recommend it to every pet lover), the cat tells us animals have their “Person”. Meesha had you as her Person. Makes sense that just as we have special relationships with animals, they have with us, doesn’t it? And your ongoing work with, and for, other animals is so kind, caring and generous of you. Thank you for sharing this with us -

I just wish I could get the tears under control. It\’s been 3 years since my girl crossed over the rainbow 🌈 bridge. I just think of my Meesha and the tears start rolling.-
It’s been 6 years since by babies left us and I still get teary eyed. I have since rescued two more cats and I love them just as much as Buster and Princess. I remember the special moments with Buster and Princess and it makes it easier. I would like to think that they are happy that I rescued two more cats.

Did you know tears have different chemical compositions if they are from joy vs. grief? It’s true. We literally “cry out” our feelings. So, while you are still feeling grief and the tears just come rolling, it’s a cleansing thing. There is no time frame for healing, but there are ways to help move ourselves along through it (and we must go through it, not ‘around’ it). You may find journaling helpful (https://www.faithfulfriends.com/shop/griffins-heart-pet-loss-book/), or want to speak with a grief counselor (https://heartfeltfarewells.com/). Also, would you like to tell us more about Meesha and your lives together? It’s helpful to share the fun and funny stories, as well as the challenging and sad parts with us. We understand, relate, and are here for you. For as long as you want and need us. And don’t feel guilty if you find yourself smiling and laughing with memories – those are the memories Meesha would want for you. {{HUGS}}

What lovely stories, Geri. While they are only “on loan” to us, our pets weave deep and meaningful fibers into our beings, and we never forget them. But, with time, we do find smiles before tears with our memories. I am absolutely convinced that non-human animals are very gracious and generous and want us to love and bring comfort and joy to as many pets as we can. And we ARE capable of loving over and over again, without diminishing any of the loves we’ve had before. In fact, losing our beloveds teaches us to treasure every pet even more. You are very kind to open your home and heart to others, and to share with us here. Your kind words of support, care and understanding to others in our community really mean a lot, Geri. Thank you for sharing your stories with us. Keep us posted about your new darlings, with photos if you like. Toni
