Jolie went to rainbow bridge on July 22, 2020. She had kidney and liver failure. IT IS DEVASTATING because my pop in law bought her in 2005. she lived downstairs from us. I taught Jolie how to go up and down the flight of stairs(at least 15 steps. after about a week she would do the stairs up and down. Jolie went from the pop in law to the brother in law and then to us in 2008. We RESCUED Jolie from my bro-in-law because his cigarettes were more important than Jolie. she was years behind on her shots and when we brought her to the vet they removed 12 teeth!!!
BUT we brought her back from the brink! she lived 12 LONG years with us.
Jolie had her pick of where to sit or lay down. Her favorite place to sit was on her daddy’s chest with her butt in my face!! LOL
We still say “GOODNIGHT JOLIE” every night. After saying goodnight to Libby. We got Libby from a breeder. Libby was a champion show dog who had outlived her productivity of pups. So we were the loving furever parents.
So, the grief never left us for Joile. But she is in a better place now. And we will never forget her. We have a shrine in the living room with her ashes and a painting by a friend. and photos of her. We also have a photo taken within 15 months of her birth hanging on the wall above the bedroom steps. I see her every night before I close my eyes and when I walk down in the morning!
The grief gets easier but her memory never leaves us!!!-
Your last sentence is so true for us. Thank you for sharing Jolie’s story. I brought my cat home to medically foster her after all but one of her teeth had been extracted, and she was not doing well. We fell in love and have been together for four years. She is soon to be 17 and has a number of health challenges we are treating. Like Jolie, she sleeps with her backside in my face. I think she’s trying to “snufficat” me :-). It’s so kind of you to have given, and shared, a nice life with Jolie. Do you still have Libby?

Sorry, Toni, I have just seen this!
I just posted something on the REMEMBER site. and lit a candle for Jolie.
YES!!!! we still have Libby and she has settled in nicely with us. I JUST WISH she would navigate the stairs to the bedroom and outside by herself. SHE IS GETTING HEAVY for me to carry up and down. she scoots down and up the deck stairs to the backyard like a CHAMP. but not the other stairs. Have to figure out how to train her to do the steps by herself!
other than that she has become our little girl. But Jolie is still remembered when we say goodnight and at other times of the day.
keep in touch!!!
