Good afternoon everyone, happy new year to all. Well, I got snowed in yesterday. Had someone come over and dig me out. Now I’m snowed in again because it snow day last night. I am waiting for my nephew and his son to come and dig me out. Syrus did not like the snow at all, and heck just watched it through the window. He wouldn’t even go near the door when I open the door, so he could look out the screen door. I never expected this to happen in Fenwick Island, Delaware. Have a great day everyone

A friend of mine has moved in, and she has a Maine coon cat named Gulliver. We call him gully. He is extremely cute but extremely mischief. He is also very curious about everything. The picture is of him and his human mommy. He cuddles up to me too. Since having him my Hex has become less afraid and more friendly which I am very happy for.

Toni, I am praying for Walter and you. Please let us know what the doctor had to say. I had a cat that had cancer of the ear. She did fine for about three years but then I had to put her to sleep because it actually started bleeding.

Geri, this is so hard. Thank you for caring. We’re seeing the doctor in the morning. I just posted about a friend whose cat had a similar mass and hers ruptured and she suffered terribly. I don’t want that for Walter and am trying to do what’s best for him. As we all do. 💔I’ll post an update tomorrow. Toni

Thank you for the holiday wishes, Geri. It’s so nice of you to let us know you, Syrus and Hex are well. My Walter seems okay but it’s hard for me to evaluate how he’s really feeling. We see his doctor tomorrow and I’m hoping she can give me insight. We know his mass is fast-growing but I don’t see that he is uncomfortable. Love ’em good and hard while we can 💕🤗

My nieces family adopted a dog named Buttercup. I I babysit Buttercup twice a week, and they tell her that her and Syrus are kissing cousins. She is always sticking her tongue inside of his mouth. I also tell everyone she’s my great niece. She’s such a cuddly family.

Geri, it’s good to hear from you but boy, what a sad and tough year you and yours have endured. Let’s hope the new year brings better things for you all. Buttercup and Syrus sound cute. Sorry, not been in touch but a lot has happened to me over the past year. I had omicron, Covid pneumonia and congestive heart failure between January 2022 and March 2022. Thank God for many of my friends and family who watched Syrus and Hex for me. Unfortunately, my sister lost her dog Charlie girl. Are used to call her my Charlie girl. She wasn’t really friendly with too many people except me. My sister had to put it down just to expire for Christmas. It broke my heart. Then my girlfriend Terri who took care of Syrus and Hex for me had to put down her cat Muppet just before Christmas. Talk about another heartache. I wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year.

Hi everyone, sorry I have not kept updated. I had Covid back in January so Syrus Stayed with a friend while I was in the hospital. I came home but I had to be on oxygen for a month so she kept Syrus for me. He did come to see me but every time he came to see me, and he saw that oxygen tank he would panic. Syrus has separation issues, and he is also very skittish. If something makes a loud noise, falls or high wind, Syrus goes into panic mood. He starts shaking, and hides behind me. I believe that he was abused, because he’s got spots over his body where he’s missing hair. It looks like somebody might’ve been using him as a target with a bb gun.He was also deserted during hurricane Irene in Florida. When he first came to me, he was petrified of all people. He was always friendly with other animals and kids. Now he’s getting used to people. I also have Hex the cat who was feral, and who stayed with me through the whole Covid situation. My friend did take care of him while I was in the hospital, but could not take her to her house because Hex likes to claw. Even though I have claw pads for him, he still goes around scratching anything that is wood, and my friend has some expensive furniture. He is a very friendly cat, and loves to be rubbed. I have a lot of windows in this mobile. Hex is now an indoor cat, and he loves the windows. I live in a mobile park with a lot of trees so he gets to see squirrels, rabbits, raccoons and foxes. Plus a lot of birds. He runs from window to window to watch them. The only thing he doesn’t like is water and when things fall. I love them both very much, and I missed Syrus a lot when he was with my friend, even though Hex was here to comfort me. Everyone have a great day

Geri, I want you to know how much your thoughtful story is helping me right now. I am living with Boots, the 2 1/2 year old cat of a friends’ mother who is in temporary assisted living. It’s very hard to think of Boots going back to her one day, and your story really helps me know how much she misses him, and he probably her. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your touching history with Syrus and Hex. This is one of the reasons our community is here – to support and celebrate together. I am sending three {{BIG HUGS}}. First I wanna say I’m sorry for everybody’s loss. I lost two of my cats, One in December 2020 just before Christmas, and my other cat a week after New Year’s 2021. My heart was so broken, but Life moved on, and I ended up adopting another cat. I already had a dog that I also had adopted. I am sorry I have not been on the site sooner, but between the holidays and now I am sick, it’s been rather hectic. The only way I have actually survived the loss of so many pets, it’s just to remember that once they went over the rainbow bridge, they met all their friends, and they’re playing and having a good time even though they miss us.

You are so nice to adopt again, to open your home and heart to another in need of a loving, caring home. I’m sure they are doing their best to take care of you :-). Let’s hope for a better 2022.

Hi everyone, I am sorry for all of your losses. I know how everyone feels. 11 years ago, I lost my mom and nine months after her death, I had to put my Maltese to sleep. My mom had four adult cats when she passed away, and I had two adult cats. I took her 4 cats in Plus my two. One of the cats, I found a good family for, because after my mom passed away she refused to use the cat litter. I did not want to put her to sleep because she was still in good health. The vet believes she was feeling the loss of my mom. But I was working two jobs, and when I come home and found the house a mess because she refused to use the litter, it was just too much on me. I took care of the other cats for quite a few years then in 2016, the first of the oldest, had several strokes so I had him put to sleep. He was not live in a very good quality life. He could hardly walk or eat. My mom had a Russian blue cat, she was beautiful. She had four kittens, but they were only part Russian blue. She ended up with the renal failure so I had to put her to sleep the following year 2017. Then in 2018, I lost one of my cats. I had two cats left, and we were leading a pretty good life. I also retired in 2017, but kept on working for another year. I decided to take a year off from work, and in December 2019, I lost one of my mothers cats. Then in January 20 20, I lost my cat. I ended up adopting a black Labrador retriever named Syrus, before either one of them passed away, and they all got along. Then I adopted another cat, And his name is Hex. Syrus and Hex have become great friends. I went back to work this year, because of inflation. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving, and I will forward pictures from Thanksgiving next week.-
Geri, when you love a lot, you lose a lot, too. Sometimes it seems to come in bunches. In a three year period I lost my father, husband, 19 year old cat, and my mother. It was like living in a cycle of grief. Now I am on edge about my 18 year old cat, but remind myself to enjoy our time together because no amount of my worrying will keep time from moving and life progressing. Just as we need to allow ourselves to enjoy, we need to grieve so we can heal, everyone in their own way and their own time. Thank you for sharing your stories, and sharing your sympathy and understanding with others. Toni

Hi Toni, I am sorry you have not heard from me in a while. I lost two cats from the beginning of December to the middle of January. Stripes had a heart attack, and became paralyzed so I had to put her to sleep. This happened at the beginning of December. With Christmas coming it was very sad for me. I had already bought her a Christmas gift. Then the second week of January I had to put down My tutu because she had cancer. I miss them both very much. I do keep their ashes and put their names on their little coffins, and now they giving paw prints from the crematorium, so I have a paw print for each. The year before that I had lost topper, which I had told you about. I did adopt a new one year old kitten in March of 2020. He was actually a feral cat that I took into my home. I had a spade, and named him Hex. My dog Syrus is doing great. Both are spoiled brats. That is what I call them all the time. When they first bought them home, they would eat anything. Now I have a dog who is very particular about his food, he only likes the Pedigree ground food, and the Pedigree hard food. My cat likes the iam hairball remedy hard cat food, and Sheba wet cat food. I guess I have really spoiled them myself, Because I kept trying different food until I found what they liked. Anyway, my dog and cat love each other they’re constantly playing together. I have several neighbors who love my dog so much, they actually like to walk him and take them to their homes to play with their dogs or cats. I have an outside deck that’s open, and sometimes one of my friends brings her dog over so they can play together. This is kept me busy during the pandemic. Have a great weekend.-
Whew, Geri, you have been through a lot, and been very busy. You did the kind thing for Stripes and any holiday season makes it even harder. And you know the same is true for Tutu. It’s so hard because in our heads we know our time with them is limited , and that releasing them from suffering or pain is the supreme act of selflessness and grace, but boy, in our hearts and every cell, it hurts so much to part. I am terribly sorry. And, I am excited for your baby, Hex (great name) and his friendship with Syrus. They look like a happy couple :-). Oh, don’t get me started on food….I think we can all relate to the trap of “try this. No? Try this…” until we finally land on something they’ll accept and enjoy. They train us well, don’t they? I am delighted you thought to update us Geri, and am sorry it wasn’t all happy news, but it’s really good to hear from you. Please send more stories and photos of Hex and Syrus.

Good morning Everyone. Sorry I have not been on lately, but I lost my two 16-year-old cats back to back. One I had to put to sleep just before Christmas, and the other one I had to put to sleep in February. I had six cats all together, and lost each and everyone, every year for the past six years. My heart has been heavy with loss. I did adopt a black lab name of Syrus, and another cat named is Hex. They have become the joy of my life. They are best friends, and cannot live without one another. When I take my Syrus to my nieces house, or my friend who loves Syrus takes her to her house, Hex keeps watch outside of my patio doors. When Syrus comes home, he is waiting at the door for him. Hex also likes my friend a lot and she likes him a lot. I know that if anything happens to me, she would take good care of them. Syrus and Hex have helped me a lot during my grief.-
I am so sorry for your loss. I am going through a grieving process with my dog that I lost four days ago her name was Baby she was a beagle. She would of been 11 in three months, she did not make it. I am so lost for words. I am so emotional and having a hard time with the pain of losing her. I miss her and love her so much. It is going to be tough for awhile.

Syrus and Hex are doing great. Both are mischievous, but Hex is the worst. I live in a community called Cherry Park, and a lot of trees. My back room is a enclosed sundeck, and Hex looks out the windows every day. When he sees a bird, and that bird flies away, Hex goes all over the house jumping on furniture, etc. and looking out the windows to see if he can find the bird. Hex loves to purr a lot. Syrus is a nosey body. I have a deck that he likes to go out and watch all other pets, wild creatures and people going by. He gets excited when he recognizes people, and will bark to get their attention.-

Thank you, yes Syrus and Hex are Best friends. I don’t think they realize that one is a dog and one a cat. They constantly play with one another. Hex plays with Syrus’s toys, but he seems to prefer them, Even though they are too big for his mouth. He kicks him around with his paws.-
He’s a ‘cathlete :-). Love to see more pictures of them together….

Remember 5 years, 6 months agoThe two pictures are of Tutu, the tuxedo cat, and Stripes. I have actually lost six cats in the past six years. Their names wete tippy, Dianne, twerp, topper, stripes and tutu. I really miss all of them, but thanks to Surus and Hex, my life is kept busy.-
Hi Geri. Well, you are definitely in the right place here…we are all about our pet loves and lives, and loss. I actually feel the conflict of missing the others and enjoying Surus and Hex..it’s a good/bad thing to have loved and lost, and get to love again and still…Good for you, and great for them to have you. I am so glad you are a part of our community, and if you want to lend your support to others in our community, that would be very kind of you. Keep us posted with pictures and adventures. Toni
