Anne, how are you doing now? Are you finding a lessening of the acute pain from saying goodbye to Jessie? Here’s an exercise you might find helpful in hhealing: Think of each year since 2010 as an inch. Let yourself pick moments from each inch (year) that brought you joy, and remember why you opened your home and heart to Jessie. At the end of your ruler, there is a short time when Jessie was unwell, then found release and relief. I hope that as often as you can, you will visit the years (inches) of love and fun you gave Jessie. Please let us know if this helps you, and please join us Thursday to talk. Toni -

Brony, that is a terrible story for poor little Lucy. Heartbreaking. It’s no wonder you are not only sad, but angry. I am, too. Some people shouldn’t have pets. It may help you to separate the two feelings and address them each. What happened to Lucy was not good, but she found an angel in you and you made her life much better than it had been. The pain of parting is unlike any other and little things can trigger big emotions for a long time. I hope you find some comfort knowing Lucy, and Lulu, were cared for and loved by you until the end of their little lives. I am sending you {{NIG HUGS}}. Toni -

Brony, I know you said goodbye to Crazy Lucy recently, and it’s understandable that you are suffering, but your post sounds as if something else bad has happened? There is absolutely no timeline or format for grieivng. There are ways to help move through the pain, starting with what we are doing here – talking about it. Living alone amplifies the emptiness and quietude of your home with Lucy being gone. Can you get out each day, maybe for a walk or to a park? Visit with neighbors or friends? Watch something silly on TV? Listen to music you like? I sincerely hope you will come to our meeting next Thursday, June 20th to share with us and be among friends who understand and care.Sending you {{BIG HUGS}} Toni -

Brony… No. You are not a “bad mom”. You are a kind, caring, generous person who opened herself to another love after losing a dear beloved friend – Lulu. Please don’t even think that of yourself. Here’s the thing- we do not control the pets in our lives. We care for and about them, but they, like we, have their own paths to travel. We can give them creature comforts and care and love, but every one of us has a road to follow, and Crazy Lucy followed hers, Brony, it hurts so deeply, and I am, we are, so very sorry, but just think what a nice, safe, kind life you gave to Lucy ( and Lulu). Please, please. be kind to yourself knowing Lucy, and Lulu, knew your love, and that they would want you to be happy for the lives you shared. Stay here with us as you move throught this, Brony. We are here for you. Toni -

Anne, I think you are right- our animals come to us and are only on loan, never for long enough (forever wouldn’t be long enought). It is terribly painful to sat goodbye, and I hope you and your husband can make your happy memories front and center – it’s hard to cry when you’re laughing about a funny memory. Do you think Jessie would want you to celebrate the time, and times, you shared? I think so. Please let us know how you are coming along, and share some photos and more stories if you like. {{HUGS}} Toni -

Anne, it is understandable that you are still mourning. It hasn’t been very long and there is no set timeline for moving through the grief of parting.💔 I encourage you to include memories of fun, funny and loving times you and Jessie shared as you think of her. Please tell us more about Jessie and share some stories with us. We’re here for you Anne. Toni -

Maureen hi this is Brony. I lost LULU last June, I adopted LUCY and lost her this morning. Didn’t even have her a year. I must be a bad mommy. Or I believe a person to tell me the truth. It hurts so bad.

Oh Brony, I am so, so sorry for your loss of Lucy 💔 Oh, my heart hurts for OH, and I wish I could give you a big hug. You are not a bad Momma and Im sure Lucy (and Lulu) would agree. You loved and took care of her. Please don’t blame yourself. You took her in even though you were still grieving for your Lulu and gave her a safe and loving home. Be gentle with yourself and know that you did everything you could to keep her safe and happy. May I ask what happened to Lucy? Again, I’m so very sorry for your loss.
Sending you warm, comforting hugs at this very sad time 💔 ❤️
