Regarding Takoda: I finally called the vet Monday afternoon. The vet specialist never informed her via email or otherwise, that they had posted Takoda’s results in the portal. This specialty clinic evidently per my vet is inconsistent with where they post results and this particular specialty clinic has poor communication even with vets, so I guess I can’t take their lack of communication to personally. Anyway the ultrasound results showed no cancer, thank God! It did however show inflamed intestine and bowel area consistent with IBS , so I will pull him off his weight loss food, since vet said he was ok weight wise as she could feel his ribs at his last exam and only feed him the biome for the next month, I’ll just keep his dry food at 1/3 cup per day to cut calories as I was doing with the weight loss food. If he doesn’t show improvement with that and his B-12 injections, we may have to switch to a hydrolyzed diet with out chicken, royal canon has some with a variety of exotic meat flavors. Per Dr. Danboise some cats guts react badly to chicken. If we have to switch, I will try to transition Kaylanee to the same food, since insurance won’t cover her food as they consider her IBS, preexisting. Takoda’s records don’t have IBS written down and we’ll leave it that way so insurance will continue to pay for his food. Regarding myself, I went to Massachusetts yesterday and spent the afternoon and evening with my sister. She’d gotten free tickets, thanks to AARP, to the Wooster Red Sox , triple A team of the Red Sox. While the Red Sox lost the game it was still a fun time. We walked around the ball park, which was built in 2021 and has huge baseballs imprinted with name and number as well as autographed by famous hall of fame Red Sox players. They also have huge replicas of the 4 World Series rings they won this century on display outside the park. I remember when Carl Yastrzemski, retired in the 80s and he was presented with a rocking chair on the field. I also had the privilege, although didn’t realize it at the time, until a fellow employee told me, of waiting on Carlton Fisk, when I worked at McDonald’s as a teenager. I was able to get his autograph ✍️, on a McDonalds bag as I had to bring out an item from his order that was delayed. And yes Toni, I also have been to a Colorado Rockies game, either the same year they opened the park or the following year I still have at least one of the t-shirts. I bought when in attendance there, many many moons ago. 😹 Then I spent the night at my brother’s mother-law’s house and we had a nice visit last night and today as well. Tomorrow, I will spend the day at my brother’s newly rebuilt home up at the Weirs, near Lake Winnipesaukee, his pre ious one was destroyed by a burst pipe, that went undiscovered for 3 weeks while he was on an European cruise. We will hang out together, play cribbage and maybe if it’s warm enough, I’ll go swimming but that’s not likely as while days have been warm nights have been quite cool, making for good sleeping weather. Kaylanee is doing well in NH but I think she’s missing the company of her annoying brothers Takoda and Oreo.

Suzanne posted an update Sorry I missed Thursday night. I realized I had more to do than originally thought I had to do to get ready and I was tired from stress and work. Thank you for all the well wishes and concerns. Regarding Takoda, I’m still waiting for my vet to call or text me with the results of Takoda’s ultrasound. I don’t know if the lack of response from my vet is because she’s extremely busy, a possibility, as she’s the only vet at this practice or the specialist hasn’t sent her the results yet. I’m thinking might reach out to her on Monday, if I don’t hear from her first. Thankfully Takoda’s insurance paid for 90 % of his ultrasound. Kaylanee is not a big fan of the carrier and was moving around and pushing to get out. I had her on the floor in the back seat as I’d heard that was the safest place for them in the car. However at my first rest stop, I took her carrier and put it in the front with me. While she was still agitated it did calm her some as I was able to open the carrier a crack to put my hand in and pet her. She got sick 2x this morning on me and had diarrhea, the later she hasn’t has in a while despite her IBD, and of course she wasn’t interested in eating the vet food I put the cerenium/nausea meds in, she ate all her dry just fine, so I just left that food out for and it was gone when I got home from visiting my mom tonight. She also ate all her wet food tonight with no issues along with churro and treats so she seems to be feeling better. I’m thinking maybe the stress of the drive caused her nausea issues,so I may give her a cerenium before the drive back to Syracuse next Saturday. My visit with my mom today was good. She was in good form, happy and her memory was sharp, thankfully today, for the most part.

Suzanne posted an update Takoda went for his abdominal ultrasound today and despite two Gabapentin, he still needed additional sedation. I found out that he needed to have a presedation exam because it’s the law when going to a new practice before they can do anything the animal must have an initial exam, even if he goes regularly to his own vet. The ultrasound Dr. will share results with my vet with in24 hours so hoping my vet will call/text me with results before I leave Friday for vacation. 🙏 Since they didn’t call me directly, whatever they found wasn’t a must treat ASAP. I think Takoda did better than his mom, as u was an emotional basket case. I think I was crying more than if I was saying goodbye to him. I’m just hoping the emotional roller coaster will be out of commission for a while because quite frankly, I’m tired of being on it.

Suzanne posted an update Please pray for Kaylanee, she’s just recently started peeing outside the litter box litter box at least 2x that I found yesterday and once that I’m aware of this morning. She’s pooping in the litter box. I called vet and tech said to monitor her for any other behavioral changes, eating, lethargy, drinking, etc., I do have appointment for Thursday June 18 and will call before that if needed. My PTSD , from loosing all my 4 babies between March 28-January 26, is starting to kick in and my emotions are all over the place right now. It feels like a repeat of last December, the week before I was leaving for vacation, my 92 year old mother fell, my friend’s husband died the same day, suddenly and I lost my Freyja, unexpectedly on December 17. At least this time it’s only animal -and car issues but I’m
Not sure how much more I’m able to handle.

Suzanne posted an update I took Takoda in for his outpatient ultrasound this morning, at Vetrinary Medical Center, which is also the ER hospital for the area. I had given him
the gabapentin, 2hours prior, as instructed. I told them if he needed more sedation, that was ok, I was willing to pay for it. About 10 minutes later they bring him back out telling me they were unable to do it because he was to wiggly I suspected they’d need to give him additional sedation. They told me I’d have to reschedule, as they needed an urgent care doctor and they didn’t have one today. So as she gave me some dates all of which were my 12 1/2 hour work days. So I said what about a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, the urgent care vet is only there on specific days I was told. Mind you this is also an ER vet and a specialty vet. My question. Is why can’t the ultrasound vet administer a sedation injection? Then I read the confirmation email they sent me and in addition to the 515$ for the ultrasound, they want to charge me an additional 186.00 for the sedation exam plus the cost of the meds, not to mention I have to take time off from work both Monday and Tuesday, as he needs to fast from 6:00 on and I don’t get home from work until 9:00 Monday nights., thid whole experience is just maddening and just insane, thst they need a sedation consult why not just ask for and look over his vet records??? He’s in good health per the most recent blood test, on May 15. It’s not even the money that I’m concerned about the insurance will most likely cover it , it’s just the face that they’re a specialist place but don’t have a regular vet on staff to help out PRN, for situations like this, because I’m sure, I’m not the first nor will I be the last to have this occur. My two Vetrinary practices are far more competent and helpful than this place is, and Takoda’s vet only has one vet that works at the practice. 😡😡😾

Suzanne posted an update Takoda’s blood tests came back from his annual blood exam visit and his organ function is good but his infection fighting skills have decreased , probably from his irritable bowel disorder I’m going to start him on B-12 injections because my vet said it can’t hurt him. She’s also going to call in an ultrasound referral to my other vet, who has an ultrasound Dr. on premises 1 or 2x per week, as I’m concerned that he may possibly have cancer due to IBD, which hopefully since he hasn’t been officially diagnosed with IBD, the insurance hopefully will cover it. 🙏🙏🙏Either way I want to know one way or the other if he possibly has cancer and if he does hopefully it will be caught early and is treatable. I’d rather be proactive with his health than increase my PTSD, from saying goodbye to one more fur child. 4 in the past 14 months and 7 in the past 4 years was more than sufficient. It’s tough enough that it would have been Kalina’s 1year gotcha day this past May 3rd and she’s gone and May 19 was Morgaine’s 21st heavenly birthday and tomorrow is Spirit’s 4th heavenly birthday. My heart is already heavy with grief and memories of those I’ve said good bye to, I’m not ready to have to say goodbye bye to my Takoda anytime soon. Prayers to all those especially Bernie who are grieving the loss of a beloved pet. May all grieving feel God’s loving healing embrace.

Suzanne posted an update Kaylanee went for her recheck from her dental surgery on April 9, last Thursday April 30 and was told her mouth was looking good and that she healed well. She will however have to have her teeth regularly checked, due to the tooth autoimmune disease, that she has which causes the tooth/root to self absorb. I’m just happy that her quality of life has improved tremendously since I adopted her almost 3 months ago. She is such a sweet loving little girl, who especially likes to lay on me or next to me under the covers, when I go to bed at night. I’m so thankful, that I chose to adopt her, even with all the debt she’s put me in with all her health issues. I hope everyone else is doing well. Bernie, how are your cats doing? Berni posted an update Annie update: her urine culture came back positive for E. Coli, not an extreme amount but enough to need an antibiotic. The main finding on the GI panel was an extremely low B-12 level. I’ll need to give her B-12 injections for about a month. I’m also keeping her on probiotics. After tossing almost a whole (expensive) box of Purina ProPlan FortiFlora due to expiration a few months ago I decided to try it.one more time. To my shock and awe she’s actually eating her food with it added, unlike last time when she practically starved herself rather than eat it. I swear her current meals are more powder than food at this point - prebiotic, probiotic, dental powder😅! If none of that puts the brakes on the diarrhea then I’ll have to consider the endoscopy. I’m still trying to wrap my head around how her labs didn’t detect the low B-12 level before, and that it could be what’s causing the chronic diarrhea, but I guess that’s better than dealing with the “C” word. The vet also said that there’s always the possibility of the benign liver nodule developing into something more at some point but for now it’s not a major problem. So I’m just waiting to get the prescriptions to start the “getting a pill into Annie” rodeo.

Suzanne posted an update Kaylanee’s visit to the cardiologist went reasonably well. She may possibly have a mild heart murmur but because she was purring so loudly it was difficult to verify. She does have some thickening around the left side of the heart very early stages but nothing to be overly worried about at present. Both the murmur and the thickening of the left ventricle will be monitored with a follow up appointment scheduled for April of 2027. I am also monitoring her respiratory rate on an ongoing basis and if it gets above 40 I\'m to call the vet ASAP. regular repertory rate is 20-25 per minute. It’s challenging to monitor a black cat for respiratory rate per the vet. I guess the color make it more challenging to see her breathing. Thankfully she was cleared to have her dental procedure, which thanks to a cancelation will be this Thursday April 9. I think God has been intervening for my sweet girl as I got into see cardiologist and for dental procedures very quickly both due to cancellations; otherwise wait to see Cardiologist Would have been may or June pushing back her dental surgery until July or August. I filled out all the paperwork and sent it into waggle, for financial assistance to pay for Kaylanee’s dental 🦷 surgery, which could be any where from 2 - 3 thousand dollars 2 being on the low end. Serious increase in price since Sebastian had his surgery in 2022 and Ikivercin 2023. Total bill for both was about 2,000, low where. However since I just got the appointment for dental procedure yesterday and the surgery is this Thursday April 9, I’m not sure if I’ll get any money to offset the bill, with such short notice; since they pay the vet directly and the vet will want full payment when I pick her up after her procedure. It’s kinda scary financially because I’ve already spent about 2100 dollars in the 1 1/2 months I’ve had her as the pet insurance refused to pay for two of her claims saying they were pre existing. They did thankfully pay for the cardiology doctor otherwise I’d be in debt close to 2600 dollars, for her alone. That doesn’t include the debt I’m still paying off for Sebastian and Freyja who I lost with in 6 weeks of each other. Thankfully, my financial debt on Freyja is almost paid. However, I’m going to trust that God will provide for Kaylanee’s medical expenses, since She/He has already intervened numerous times already by getting her into see specialists quickly and to become a beloved member of my fur family. Praying that all is well with everyone else who’s a part of faithful friends. I pray daily for all mourning the loss of a beloved human or pet that they may feel God’s loving healing embrace. I will provide update regarding Kaylanee’s dental procedure after it’s completed. Thank you everyone for your care and support. This group means a lot to me.

Suzanne posted an update Kaylanee update:
I got off the phone with my vet about an hour ago. The good news is he didn’t see anything serious. He did notice, thickening of the intestinal wall. I’ve got a vet tech appointment on 4/17 for a blood test that needs to be sent to Texas AM, that will let us know if it is irritable bowel syndrome or possible pancreatic issues? I’ve been down this road before for this particular blood test as Oliver had to have it once a year for his IBD. If that fails to produce any results, then there’s some other tests that we will look into providing the insurance company will cover all of her health challenges. In the mean time I will keep her strictly on the Hills Biome diet, as it’s for gastrointestinal issues, which thankfully she’s eating. She also gained a 1/4 lb which is good too. Now I just need to hope and pray the insurance covers all of this and doesn’t find an excuse to tell me it’s a preexisting condition, which technically they shouldn’t since all her pre illness blood work came back good. Her next appointment is 4/2 with the cardiologist. I’m not to concerned with this appointment, as the vet said it wasn’t urgent for her to see the cardiologist , as her heart blood test was just a little elevated but I wanted it sooner rather than later, so hopefully she will be cleared for her much needed dental surgery. While I’m still not sure exactly what’s wrong with Kaylanee, I feel hopeful, that I will be able to spoil her for a good long time, since she was rescued from an abuse situation.

Suzanne posted an update Kaylanee’s ultrasound with the internal medicine doctor went well. She did well and thankfully was cooperative. Shes’s definitely a much better patient than I am. I was a nervous wreck all morning waiting for the vet to call me, so I’d be able to go pick her up. While I may not have the results of the ultrasound, until Friday, possibly sooner, it depends on how many ultrasounds he did today and how many reports he then has to write up to send to individual vets, I’m feeling a lot less stressed, as she’s back home with me and acting her usual friendly self. I will update everyone on the results, when I hear from my vet.

Have your pets changed THEIR time clocks? Have you noticed a change in the times your little loved ones are awakening or asking to be fed? Most animals, including humans, are sensitive to the sun and our internal clocks are disturbed by the clock changing, but our pets don’t follow clocks – they follow the sun cycles. Don’t worry – we will all adjust and adopt new routines, so please don’t be upset with your pets if their timing is a bit different for a week or so.
Please always feel welcome to share your stories and updates with us, especially how you are coping with the passing of a beloved baby. If you haven’t joined a group meeting, I really hope you will join us at least once to talk about your experience and feelings with our kind, understanding friends.
YOU make our community work so please share your support and insights with others here who need support through their grief. We are here for everyone who wants to celebrate, and remember our beloved babies. Toni

Thank God! My 2 boys are doing well: running, playing, eating & sleeping w/out a care in the world. Ahh, the life of a house dog. I hope everyone & their pets survived the storm & came out unscathed. Hopefully spring is right around the corner! Take care all.

💔Suzanne, your heartfelt, honest sharing is why we are here – to listen with compassion and hopefully help you as you move through these painful times.
Regarding your recurring images of the needle: What did you do in the moments afterwards? Did you pet, embrace, kiss your babies as you whispered goodbye? Clip fur? Were you relieved for them being out of pain and at peace? Can you take your memory of the needle to the next step and go past the immediate moment to the time that followed? It may help to think of it as a brief moment in the total of your times together. I hope othesr in our community will offer you some helpful ideas.
Your commitment to adopt seniors is wonderful🙌, especially as we enter Spring and “kitten season” when older animals are often bypassed. I enjoyed five fabulous years with the 13 year old I adopted, and only five months with my 15 year old. Two of the five week olds I fostered died. There really is no telling how long we have, but we do know you are giving these deserving babies, of any age, a loving home for as long as you are together. That is magnificent of you.
Please share more any time you like. We’re here for you with care and undertsanding. Toni

The photos of Sebastian were taken by me before I let him go. Sebastian, my little lap buddy, the house will be so quiet with out you. You will be dearly missed but now you are reunited with your bonded brother, Oliver, your sweet toothless, gentle, Kalina, who, while she was only with us a short time, I know the two of you developed a special bound.

With the widespread frigid temperatures coming, please keep pets and animals warm – inside if you can-and help outdoor friends by providing protection and fresh water (it will freeze and need to be changed).
A box with old towels or blankets can make a huge difference for those outside..
And do not let them lick anti-freeze!!
Let us know how you all are doing. Toni
