    • Debra, how touching. I’m teary reading about Star Lynn. She is beautiful. Intellectually, you know you did everything for her, but emotionally it is so hard. I hope your good memories outweigh the sadness. They are with us forever in our hearts.

Our Mocha was recused from Delaware Puppy Rescue in 2007 at 8 years old. We felt as if God had sent her to us. n November 25, 2014 we sent our dear Mocha back to the hands of God, at the age of 15. She had a glorious life with us and we look forward to rescuing another dog.

The first time I met Shey, she had just turned two weeks old. My friend’s dog had the litter, so as soon as they were old enough, she invited over to see the puppies. She said I could hold one and spotted Shey. She was the smallest of the bunch and so cute. So we sat down and talked for a while, my friend holding a crying pup and me holding Shey who immdediately fell asleep in my hand. She told she had never seen a puppy choose someone that early before, that was my dog and she wouldn’t give her to anyone else. That’s the day I named her Shey.

Because Shey was my first dog ever, my friend helped me get her house broken before she came home but I went visited just about everyday. Like every relationship, we had our furry ups difficulties – Shey learning to be a companion and me learning to be good dog mom.

We drove truck over the road together for a while, so Shey had been in all lower 48 states and Canada. And when a blizzard shuts down the freeway and you’re sitting still for hours there’s nothing better than jumping out of the truck to go have snow fights in the median. Shey loved to have “snow fights” with me. She loved to lick the cinnamon off the donuts and leave them in box on the dashboard. She wouldn’t bite them, just lick off all the cinnamon! She was also fiercely protective and so gentle at the same time.

The vets she saw over the years have all told me she is not a typical husky. She’s very laid back and quiet. She hardly ever barked unless I got her worked up and she was telling me stories. She loved her stuffed animals and would actually take very good care of them. There were a few that she would sleep with (her monkey and her elephant).

Dhorstp found herself on my front door in November of 2009, about a week before Thanksgiving. I had no intention of saving her because of my commitment to Baby and Reggie. So, I eventually took her to the pound and a week later, changed my mind.

Bringing her to the Vet, I had her cleaned up, shots given and within a week, her little body just rejected the treatment. She passed away within a week’s trip to the Vet. Furious, angry at me and the vet I made the error of trying to help too much, too fast.

Dhorstp was cremated and her remains are in a beautiful cat sculpture and she is with me every day and night. Upon my death, she will along with the other two, be buried with me and my remains when the Lord calls me.

I will forever remember her sleeping right by my head. Even in her last hours, she struggled to live. My heart still is heavy with grief as I recall her in this memorial. I do not have friends, so these creatures are my family whom I adore.

Dhorstp was a reminder to me of what it means to care of someone or something other than myself. What joy I have knowing that at least she did not die alone, but in my arms. It gives me peace knowing that although in body she is not present, her spirit lays close by all the time. And I pray she knows how much I loved her even in the short time she was here with me.

In memory, Dhorstep My Friend and Companion.

        • Sorry to hear about your Loss Mike. She sounds amazing and like she must have been extremely thankful to have had you in her life.

        • Dear Mike, How are you getting along? Your tribute to Dhorstep is touching and beautifully written. I am sorry for your grief and hope sharing with us at Faithful Friends helps you. Our beloved Molly was a gift from God who came into my life on March 18, 1999. She was about a year old, and presented herself just when I needed her most. Her devotion and love was enormous, even though she had been abused before I rescued her. With love, kindness and support from our family, she evolved into the most outstanding and confident girl. I saved her and then she saved me, as she stood by my side during a difficult time in my life. Awhile later, my daughter arrived – from day one they were sisters. She lived a wonderful life and will forever by a part of our hearts and family. Molly passed away on May 21, 2013. She battled osteoarthritis, and her limbs just eventually gave out. With everything we did to make her feel comfortable, it just became her time to be returned to Jesus. The loss is devastating, and we feel so empty in our hearts and in our home. We’ll never ever forget her … she was the most wonderful four-legged daughter and we miss her so much.

I totally feel for your loss and my prayers are with you. I know that she’s watching down in you now remembering the kindness and joy you brought her in her life. My dog Yoder passed a few years back and there isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t remember her, but when I’m in the backyard or the park, I remember her favorite days and realize that maybe, just maybe shes the one who brought the sun out just right and the smell of the trees to remind me that the little things in life, love, friendship, are the true treasures that we can remember and cherish always.

          • Thank you so much … the most difficult thing we are facing is just being in our own home. We literally just can’t stand it without Molly here. The void is tremendous. I can’t sleep in my own bedroom because she’s not there next to me. I can’t bear to put her things away, so I’m just leaving them in place for now. Molly was so very very special … her devotion and love were enormous and I’ll never forget her. She will always be with me. I know she’s watching us and sometimes I can feel her presence. Oh what wouldn’t I give for one more kiss or belly rub.

        • She is absolutely in your presence and she will always be:) Try and remember the great times you both had for without a doubt that is what she would wish for you to remember 🙂 It can be super hard, but she IS still with you and from the sound of it lived a lovely life.

        • Dear Kathy and Leah,

How are you doing now? It’s still difficult, I am sure. If you would find it helpful to visit with a certified pet grief counselor I can connect you. Just let me know – I invite you to call me 303-759-1253

Please let us know how you are and know we are thinking of you and Molly.

Lucas was our first pet after my husband and I got married. He was our first “baby”. I always referred to him as my oldest son because now we have a 3 year old precious little boy. I have to laugh because poor little Lucas was so scared of our son, he would always hide from him. Lucas was the sweetest cat anyone could ask for. I can remember in the summertime, when there was a fly in the house and Lucas wouldn’t go after it and chase it, he would just lay there looking at it, and I used to think to myself “really..your a cat and your not going after a fly?!” but he never would. He was at the height of laziness..all he liked to do was lay around, come down occasionally to visit everyone and to get held and pet. He was just the sweetest little guy, he wouldn’t hurt anyone or anything. As I fight back my tears, I know that our little boy is roaming around in kitty Heaven and playing with all the other little angels, where he is no longer suffering. I will always remember our Lucas and how much joy he brought to our lives. We have many happy memories with our little boy and I could not have asked for a better companion. Lucas, we love you and we will never forget you. Rest peacefully sweet angel <3

I’ll never forget as a little girl the night Dad brought Maddie home. My brother and I were thrilled, we finally got a dog! A beautiful liver color Dalmation, meaning white with brown spots instead of black. Maddie was about 1yrs old when we got her. I have plenty of memories I can add but two of my favorites are when we got down on the floor at her level and kind of tapped the floor with both hands. This must of meant ready, set, go to her cause she would get so excited and just tear around the house through the kitchen into the dining room into living room and on to lap 2 and 3 and so on. It might have been the only time she was allowed to get onto the couch and I only think because there was no stopping her at that point. The other was a road trip to San Francisco and we were walking through a tunnel. When we talked it echoed and she took off and was out of that tunnel in no time. Again, we all cracked up. Maddie was a part of our family for 14 years until old age got the best of her. We knew her quality of life was coming to an end and we were there every step of the way to make it as peaceful for her as possible. I hope in Doggie Heaven she has a huge house to tear around and friends to play with. She will forever be in our hearts and part of our childhood memories.
