By golly Dianne, that’s the BEST news :-). So happy for you both. She’s a tough little cookie and we are delighted. Thanks for keeping us updated-I think about everyone who shares in our community and we love to hear good, happy news. Give her a treat for me please. Oh Dear,,, may I ask you this? If you died, would you want your survivor to feel guilty for giving another a happy, healthy, loving home, or encourage them to open their home and heart to another? I bet you would want the latter, and Raina’s life with you will never be diminished by your loving again – that’s just not possible- in fact, it verifies how much you and she shared, that you can and want to do it again.
Ah yes, they do “choose” us, don’t they? I’ve fostered sick cats and when I met my Beauty Girl there was no question we were destined for each other. I miss her every day and am always grateful for her being in my life. Martha, you will meet another and you will feel a lot of love, especially because Raina shared so much with you. It’s only been a very short time since you parted and the grief is deep and strong. Please give yourself some room to move through all of this. You can find resources for service dogs in our “Find Services” tab. Put in your area and use the drop-down menu.
Please keep us updated and on the 20th, we will mourn, and celebrate, with you. I hope his {{HUG}} gives you a little comfort. Toni -

That’s shocking, Martha. But, I wonder if there was something going on for poor Raina and I know you’ve gone through all the “what if’s” and “woulda, coulda, shoulda” but there was something wrong for her to become non-responsive, and it was most likely best for her to exit comfortably rather than suffer. I guess we’ll never really know that part, but you will always know she shared a very kind and loving life with you. It is so terribly hard and hurtful to not have them with us, the house, and our hearts are just so empty….. we are here to go through this with you, hope to hear more from you, and are thinking of you.
You are very welcome to join our Group meeting July 21st at 8 PM Eastern (5 Pacific) to share with us. Here’s the link:Join Zoom Meeting

Oh Martha, this must be Raina. What a beauty. I am very sorry for your loss. How did you meet? How long were you together? Please tell us about Raina and your lives together – we really do want to know. And, we want you to feel welcome and safe sharing your stories and feelings with us. It hasn’t been very long and I know it hurts so very deeply. I share a tear and a {{HUG}} with you. Toni -

Trinity was so beautiful, it brings a tear to know you had to part. The most generous, selfless, loving gesture we have to make is letting them go, to provide relief and release. It’s always what is best for them, and I hope you and your son will know that your final act of kindness, made with LOVE, was a gift for Trinity. The grief is deep and takes time to move through. I know you will comfort each other and that one day you will find smiles before tears with her memories. Right now, it hurts at a cellular level and you can shed your tears and share your feelings with us. I am so very sorry. Maybe this {{HUG}} will help just a bit. Toni -

I’m so glad to hear that, Carmelina. Giving a kitten a loving home will do you both good. I had Boots for a few months and he really got me through losing my girl. (Now I worry and miss HIM every day, hoping his mom is taking good care of him). Bring your kitten to the Group meeting! We’d love to meet and coo all over it ๐ -

Linda, I am so sorry. What a charming photo, and sentiment. I know how deeply the pain of parting hurts and that even if Lexi was ready for relief and release, you feel her absence. Please tell us more about your lives together. And share some more photos. Let us know how you are doing, and join our Group meeting on Zoom July 21st at 8 PM Eastern if you like. Oh! You can also post a lasting memorial tribute to Lexi here: https://www.faithfulfriends.com/memorials/ -

Hi Toni. I haven’t adopted yet. I have my eye on a few kittens but bringing myself to actually go through with bringing one home is another story. Yes, our pets get us through many things in life, but getting through losing them is the hard part. I’ll keep you posted. Hope all is well with you!

Carmelina, do not do anything for which you are not ready. It’s a big thing to bring another into your home and heart and there’s no telling when you may be ready again. I had Boots for a few months after my BG died and he really helped me recover from that (I still miss her terribly and grieve, but with joy and less pain for sure), but Boots went back to his lady and I am not ready for another relationship now either. I know someone who lost her beloved dog over twenty years ago and is just now opening herself to another loving pet relationship. I feel bad for her that the fear of loss denied her the many joys of pet partnering for all these years, but I certainly understand, and it is totally up to us when, or if, we can share again. So my dear friend, we support you in every way and remain here for you to share with us as you move forward. If you can join us tomorrow, great! But if not, know we’ll be thinking of you. We won’t meet in August so let’s plan on an August group get together. Here’s another {{HUG}} for you, Carmelina :-). Toni
OH! Maybe you will find comfort sharing your own kind understanding and support with others here in our community who are hurting. Just scroll through and post your caring thoughts if you like. -
Ooops….Let’s plan for a September meeting …. we are meeting tonight, July 21st.

Hi Carmelita,
We met at the June Zoom meeting. Just wanted you to know Iโm thinking of you and the others who have had to say good bye to a beloved pet. I pray regularly for all animals to have a peaceful pain free death surrounded by those they love and for all mourning the loss of a beloved pet. -
Hi Toni and Suzanne. I apologize for not writing back sooner. Thank you for thinking of me and for your prayers. I still miss my Milo terribly but getting better. I think about adopting another all the time and visited with a couple of cats I was interested in on Saturday. One had a bit of a cold and of course, it frightened me. The thought of bringing a kitty home and having to medicate brings me back to those days I’d rather put out of my mind. The other kitty was very friendly and rubbed up against my leg. Did he pick me? When I’m spending time with cats, all the love I have pours out of me and I enjoy interacting and playing with them. In fact, the volunteer even commented that whoever I choose to adopt will be a very fortunate kitty. It’s when I’m by myself that all my fears take over about losing again and going through the pain again that I shy away from bringing another cat into my home. I’m constantly going back and forth… I want, I don’t want. I have considered adopting one of the kitties I saw last weekend. He’s beautiful! He’s a gray tuxedo with the most beautiful golden eyes. Will I go through with it? Stay tuned… : ) Thank you again for all the kind support and prayers. Sending prayers to you both, Toni and Suzanne. God bless you!
-
Of course you will!! Pick up those feet and go get him, Carmelina. I was absolutely bereft when my Beauty Girl passed – the pain, the emptiness, the litter box and dishes and her beds gone…and then Boots came into my life and I understood how BG and Milo, and frankly each of us would only wish for more love to come around after we’re gone, too. Yep, one day you’ll part again but what a delight to have the time together. All kitties are going to die. All people are going to die. Even rocks erode over time. Don’t let the fear of loss overtake your joy of living, and sharing with a kitty who needs your loving and happy home. If I hadn’t experienced it myself, I wouldn’t be so bold, but I really hope you will open your doors – to your home, and your heart, and share again. That said, it has to be when you’re ready, but it sounds like you are. I love that you are so kind. Let us know what you decide. And send a special {HUG} to Suzanne who is mourning, too. Toni

Oh gawd, April, that’s awful. What a shock for you but in a way, good for Maddy that she didn’t have a long-suffering battle. Oh boy-you must be in deep pain and I am so sorry. Yes, of course you did what was best for Maddy, but it still hurts terribly, doesn’t it? Please, tell us more about her and your lives together. How you met, what she enjoyed…just whatever you would like to share when you feel like it. We are all here for you with understanding and care. I’m sending you a heartfelt {{HUG}} Toni -

It takes time to find smiles before tears with your memories, and you will, but it still hurts. Will you tell us about Trinity and your lives together? We’re here for you. {{HUGS}} Toni -
