@olaw Jo, I had a kitten named Nicki, so when I saw your tributes to your Nikki and Mercedes, it brought back memories. Please share with us about them both, and let us know how you are coping. Toni

@runtjade Jeanie, I love the name Grizzley. What was Grizzley? May we see some pictures, please? What happened with Grizzley – illness, age..other? How are you doing Jeanie?

@my2poodleshome Bonnie, Hi. I see your tributes to Lacy and Tyler. What kind of pets were they? Did they live with you at the same time? Are you doing okay?

@cathy1960 Hello Cathy. I am sorry for your loss of Gracie and wonder what type of pet she was? Please tell us about her and let us know how you are doing.

Sapphire is such a pretty kitty. I am sad for you. Were there symptoms of her kidney failure? Something we should watch for? My cat Squirt, who was 19 when she died, loved cantaloupe! I’ve never had a cat other than Squirt who would even consider it. I haven’t tried Cheeto puffs on my cat, but she likes regular Cheetos, and Doritos, although she finds the Doritos a bit spicy for her taste :-).

Oh Ernie – Maggie really is a gift. She is such a beauty. You know she looks like my girl, but mine has a little white on her chest, and like her mother (me) a little white showing up in her other fur :-). More pictures and adventure stories, please ….

Cindy, Thank You so much for sharing these details. It may help others of us. Goodness – you really did all you could, and I hope you know that. I want to say more, but let’s check in tomorrow. I’m thinking of you, and would like to introduce you to @chuck, who is also a community member, whose dog, Dexter, also had CHF. Your sharing is so important and meaningful and helpful, Cindy. Thank you.

Oh, I am really so very sorry and sad for that, Wendy. I have had a few dear furry friends with whom I could not be with when they died, and I have to think that the loving times we spent together were the better parts of our lives together. Also, even humans sometimes don’t want their loved ones near when they leave. So please, Wendy, don’t be harsh on yourself. You are clearly a loving pet person and you know, inside, that Tyson knew you loved him, and left in love, with grace. Here is a hug for you, from me :-). Toni

I am sorry, Chuck, but you made me smile with this – it’s so pretty and cool. I know you are hurting, and I share your pain, but this is such a cool and meaningful tribute to Dexter, you just made me smile – I hope your are finding more smile than tears too – are you?

Hello Wendy. Did you say goodbye to Tyson? Are you doing okay? Will you tell us about Tyson, share some photos? Let us know how you are, please.
                    • I did not get to say goodbye to Tyson. πŸ™ I don’t have photos because I have a new phone. He was a great dog…black lab. Best dog I ever had.

Cindy, our community member and friend, Chuck, lost his dog Dexter to CHF, too. Is there a way to diagnose it early, and can it be treated? And yes, one day, one moment, at a time. We never forget, but we do get to have the fun, loving memories one day.
                            • Hers was discovered when I asked them to check her heart murmur before she got a vaccination and that’s when they did an x-ray that showed an enlarged heart..she was put on vetmedin which is an amazing medication..in January of 2020 she had an episode where she was panting so hard that I took her to a cardiologist and that’s when he diagnosed her with CHF on the left side of her heart and the mitral valve leak..he added lasix, enalapril and aldactone which made all the difference in her.. unfortunately she was in category C..but with medication and diet and love she survived for 7 more months..if they did heart transplants in animals I was willing to do that..she deserved all that I could do for her..you know that saying if live could have saved you she would still be here..she left paw prints all over my heart.

MaryAnne, is this Checkers, or Macy? What a pretty girl. Will you tell us about her?

Of course, Christine. Even a stroll down the pet food aisle can trigger a lot of emotion, so seeing a look-alike is tough. Will you adopt again, or do you have other pets?
                                    • I have 3 other rescue cats and a rescue dog if i could adopt all the animals i wanted i would i see cats outside and i want to bring them in but i cant. That would be way to many kitties
