They are pomeranians Sasha is my dog belle is my brother’s dog they are sisters from different litters but same mom and dad

@hcarpenter Heather, I am sorry hear about Fergus and Ralphie. What type of pets were they? Were they living with you at the same time? How are you doing?

They were both cats. Ralphie was my 1st cat and died a long time ago, but I miss him dearly. Fergus died 2/16/12 from renal failure. He was everything to me. (It’s silly, but my license plate has his name on it.) I think he sent my 2 current cats to me.

Nancy, what a beautiful girl Macy was. There is no timetable on grief. It can take a long time to open your heart and home again. I know someone who refuses to go through the grief of losing a beloved pet ever again. That’s her choice and I understand it. I went for many years without a pet again, then fell in love with my girl who I was fostering back to health. She’s getting up there (17 soon), and has ongoing medical issues we’re treating, and I have melted down a few times when I thought she was dying, so I know the pain. I also wouldn’t trade the years we’ve had together, sleeping with her backside in my face, having someone greet me when I come home…just all the love in the house while she is in it. It’s not easy to say goodbye. I hope you find smiles before tears, and let us know how you are doing. -

Gotcha – it’s below zero here today !! I worry for the animals living on the streets. That’s one of the many reasons we support shelters and rescues. -

Yes, Jennie, the selfless, kind act of releasing our beloved pet from suffering is so very difficult and heart wrenching, even though we intellectually know it’s our final act of kindness we can extend after a life together. I am sorry you had to say goodbye to Caesar, but you acted in his best interest, and with Love. If you are not ready to bring another faithful friend into your home, perhaps you could volunteer to walk dogs at a shelter to help fill the void?…. -

Cathy, thank you for your insights and tips. I called my 24 hour ER a few weeks ago on a Sunday (lots of blood in her stool, which we are treating) and then thought maybe I was being silly since it’s a known progressive inflammatory disease and almost didn’t take her. Glad I did. We were there 2 1/2 hours and they increased her dosages. You are right – they are very busy and since we can’t go in with them, I suggest bringing a book to read while you wait outside. Any time you can share your thoughts, it’s much appreciated. Wendy lost her beloved Snuggles to a bad reaction to insulin and I asked her if there were symptoms of diabetes. We can all learn and benefit from our shared experiences. Toni -

Oh Wendy, how sad. He’s a good looking guy. How did you find out he had diabetes? Were there symptoms?-

He lost 7 pounds in a month and a half and he started drinking tons of water and his appetite was uncontrollable.He lost muscle mass in his hips and shoulders, also.

Felecia, This is a hard story to hear, but it’s not unusual. I think people want to provide the best for their pets, but for any number of reasons, can’t, don’t or won’t. Rescues and shelters are so wonderful, and people like you who adopt from, and support them are more than wonderful..Will you one day invite another faithful friend into your home and heart?-
Thank you so much for your kindness… Of course I would take in another baby… I have my eye on this poor baby that is 17 years old – came from Louisiana to a shelter in West Chester PA – I have to contact them and see if they allow out of state fosters.. I know no kill shelters do their best and are awesome with all the furbabies.. but it breaks my heart to know she is 17 and best for her to be in a comfortable home… 🙁
