Faithful Friends’ primary, but not only, purpose is to be here as a caring, understanding and supportive community when one of us is experiencing the intense and deep pain of grieving the loss of a beloved friend. Every word we share, every item we offer, is designed to help. The book “Griffin’s Heart” was written to help the author heal from her own seemingly unending grief and I think you may find it a good, interactive not only book, but journal for your deepest feelings to help you heal. You choose whether to share it with your husband or sons, or not. It’s in our Shop.
It IS disappointing when others don’t quite “get it” but I am sure they are unhappy for your pain and probably don’t know what to do or say. Were Anubis and Bella good friends? Is Anubis doing okay? No question our fur babies understand and comfort us in ways no ‘human’ can. And the pain of parting is a different kind of pain. Terrilynn, this is so very recent and I would be surprised if you weren’t in a lot of pain now. One day you will smile before you cry, thinking of her, and you may even feel a little guilty about that. But Bella would want you and Anubis to be happy for your shared lives and love. Please be with us as often as you like and need. And thank you for the Hug. That brings a tear to my eyes. You be you……..we’re here for you. -

Oh, she’s so pretty. I’m so glad you showed us this beautiful girl. She has some Siamese in her? How old is Casper? How long have you been together? -

Yikes, Terrilynn – no wonder you are in such pain, and grief. It’s so recent and raw, and Bella is so adorable – her little nose is so darn cute, and I feel her personality in this picture. (Thank you for sharing this). You certainly were fortunate to share so many years together, as was she. It’s really horrible to part from such a dear, beloved friend and I am so, so very sorry. But wow – what a gift you gave each other, too – so many shared times of ups and downs, laughs and tears…. Terrilynn, you just sit with your grief and let the feelings and memories wash through and over you for now. There is no other place or way to be for awhile. We understand and want you to let us walk through this with you if you like – we truly understand and are here for you. Please, check in often and know we are all thinking of you. Here is a HUG for you. Toni-
HI Toni,
Thank you so much! I appreciate the love! I am having a very hard time … I look “ok” on the outside but inside my head, I’m screaming! and I’m very disappointed that my family (other than my husband) doesn’t seem to understand my grief 🙁 I feel very alone in this journey … my husband tries to do what he can …but he can only do so much … but I’m still getting out of bed and trying to accomplish what I can … I still have one fur baby, Anubis – and Thank the Lord for him! He’s 3 and has been a life savor – so I am trying to focus on him (Anubis) … and trying to appreciate all the wonderful memories my precious little girl (Bella) gave me … today is also the 3rd year anniversary of another one of my fur babies passing (Isaac) – when my dad passed away almost 4 years ago my fur babies were my saving grace – I honestly don’t know where I’d be if it weren’t for them – and I have human sons as well! I love my sons, they are a blessing but there’s a special bond between my fur babies and I … Thank you again for your kind words! You have no idea how much it means to me!
Hugs,
Terrilynn-

Terrilynn — you and Bella are exactly why I wrote Griffin’s Heart. I felt completely broken after I lost Griffin and I needed a way to process the pain and sense of isolation. We’re sold out on Amazon, but Toni sells it here. Check out GriffinsHeart.com to see if it’s for you. I’m getting hundreds of messages from readers who feel exactly like you (and me!) — let me know what you think. Either way – I’m sending you love… remember to take all the time you need to heal. 💛💛

Thank you for your kind words! I just ordered your book and I am excited to dive into it. I love to read and I love to journal.
Hugs,
Terrilynn

Oh Valerie, I am sorry but I had to smile at these pictures of Sadie, especially since you say she was “grumpy” :-). I bet she was a lover and know she was your dear friend. How lovely and loving of you to share your life with her, and how lucky she was to have you to ride, and be with. Thank you so much for sharing. How are you doing now? Do you have other pets?-
2 years before she passed, I found a Chiweenie puppy and in 2016, I was blessed with a Chihuahua puppy..both are females. So, even though I lost Sadie, my heart was still full of love for the other 2. I miss Sadie so much because she had her own personality but yet loveable on her terms. Her ashes are in a beautiful pine box sitting on my mantle.

Debbie, we don’t care about typos and auto-correct – it happens to most of us ;-). You and Cotton, and her parents, go way back – you lived important parts of life together and no doubt shared many ups and downs along the way. Of course you still feel bad from time to time. I hope the happy times are with you more, but I know how a simple little thing can trigger a well of emotional loss. I think we all have had that experience. Have you reached out to rescues to find another love? We seem to meet when it’s right for all and I hope you let us know when that happens for you. You are kind and generous to open your heart and home to another furry faithful friend. Sending you best wishes for that! -

Jill, Gizmo has only been gone since March, right? That’s not a long time for healing and I hope you will go easy on yourself. She was such a part of you and your life, your dearest friend in so many ways, I don’t find it unusual that you are still actively grieving. If you have been reading the comments of other community members here, you know some have had their beloveds pass unexpectedly, some in their sleep for no known reason, some shot….It’s one thing to have an old, ailing pet, and while it’s just heartbreaking to say goodbye and we grieve the loss, it’s understandable. But to lose them for no seeming reason leaves questions for us. Maybe those will never be resolved. Please share your feelings and thoughts here among friends who truly understand and care. I hope that helps you. I am sending you more HUGS. Toni -

Oh wow, Vivian – how touching and kind and lovely of you – and yes, you are right – we cannot “replace” a pet,, nor would we want to – but to open our hearts and homes to others with whom we can share love and kindness is so very uplifting ( for both), and healing, I am so happy you shared this and wonder if you will share some pictures of Ripley and Harlee with us? If not, that’s purrrrfectly okay …. we just like to know our furry friends better. You are one kind, caring person, and we are so glad to have you in our caring community. I look forward to hearing more 🙂 -

@lacs70 Oh Lori, Patches is such a sweet name and makes me think your Patches had multiple colors? What kind of pet was Patches? Please share with us how you met, and some things about your lives together that are meaningful for you. How are you doing, Lori? Would you like to share some photos of Patches with us?

They were with you for so many life experiences, shared your ups and downs, those are big holes in your day to day life. How fortunate to have enjoyed so many years together, though. When my 19 year old died it was very mixed for me – she was old and needed to go, and I understood that, but she was with me through so many times that she left a void. It’s been long enough that her memory always brings smiles, but it takes awhile to get there. Please keep letting us know how you are. - Load More
