Aileen, Thank You for sharing with us – we understand the heartbreaking part of fulfilling our promises back to our beloved friends to whom we committed, that we won’t let them suffer, and what you did was only in Maggie’s best interest, not your own. You are Maggie’s angel, too :-). I don’t know what a white sable German Shepherd looks like. Do you have pictures you can share with us? We do welcome you to our caring community, and if you scroll through some of the posts here, and read some that touch you, I know your words of sympathy and understanding will be welcome and meaningful. I hope each day you find smiles before tears. I know Maggie’s birthday may be tough for you, so please….know we are here for you, and are thinking of you.-
thank you how do I post a picture of her?

There are no good ways to say goodbye but, dying in our sleep, or being held by a loved one, seem to be the kindest ways, to me. In that, you were both lucky. It hasn’t been very long for you, Rosemary, and I hope you allow yourself to grieve as you need. Please let us know how you are doing. We’re thinking of you. -

Oh good. The author, Reagan Pasternak, is an actress who had a really hard time when Griffin died, and had to write this book/journal to help herself move through it. (You can listen to my Paw’d Cast interview with her by clicking the purple microphone icon on the upper right side of this page if you like.) It’s a good way to get out feelings and I think will make you feel better. But Martha, I hope you will embrace the fact that you shared your love and a wonderful life with Missy, and as sad as it is, our pets are only “on loan” to us. That’s the really hard part of loving, and being loved, so much. Let us know how you are coming along, and when you use the book, please let us know how it helps.-

@loriann Hello Lori, and welcome to our caring community. I am very sorry for your loss of Jessie and wonder how you are doing? Martha, I am so sorry and still say it hasn’t been very long since Missy passed, and of course you are still very much in pain. If you want to journal and have a supportive, kind of ‘guided’ path through your grief you might find the book (in our shop) “Griffin’s Heart” helpful. Others in our community have found it helpful. But I think you are doing just what you need to – acknowledging and sharing your pain with people who really ‘get it’ and feel your sorrow with you. I’d love to hear more about Missy and see more pictures, and get to know her better. You are in my thoughts and I am sending you endless HUGS……-
Thank you. I will check out Griffin’s Heart

Oh boy, Rosemary. This really touches me because she and my old girl (17 1/2) could be twins. I don’t think mine ever had kittens. Did Shirley’s babies look like her? How long has it been since you said goodbye ? We know intellectually that she enjoyed a long life of loving with you, but boy, it just hurts so much… I’m thinking of you and sending you hugs….-
Thank you so much for caring about my Shirley. Yes most of her kitten’s had alot of black on them. Sadly I just lost her on September 13th, 2021. I held her, talked to her and kissed when she passed on.I miss her so very much.

Oh, what a sweet face, Ann. She must have been adorable in her shirts. I hope you share some pictures of her in them. I know what you mean about ‘everyday’ things – a toy, a blanket, the pet food aisle….they can all trigger grief that wells from deep within. Smiles are mixed in there, but it will be awhile before your memories bring smiles before your tears. We do understand and are here for you to share your feelings and stories about Daisy Mae with us. We want to know how you are doing, so please keep us posted (and share Daisy Mae in some shirts if you can). I am sending you my sympathy, along with others in our caring community. -

Gail, this is so sad, and I am so sorry. Peanut didn’t have any symptoms? That’s scary and just shocking for you. Cathy and I are discussing her loss of her four year old, Sheba – another sudden, unexpected death of a youngster. Any time we have to say goodbye is so very painful, but sudden loss, especially at such young ages, is truly devastating. When you are up to it, please tell about Peanut – what kind of pet; how you met – anything you’d like to share, including photos. I am thinking of you with sincere and deep sympathy. Toni-
Peanut was a boxer, my baby. My children are all grown now. We thought he was perfectly healthy until the Friday before he passed he came down in the morning limping. Vet said possible shoulder strain or sprain. By Tuesday afternoon took him to ER vet – he was in kidney and liver failure and had gone blind. No idea what caused this all of a sudden. I’m lost and heartbroken.. I miss him so much

Cathy, I’m glad you mention diet. My 17 1/2 yer old cat has kidney failure (somewhat) and we changed to a prescription dry food, and are getting ‘cat’upuncture to stimulate blood flow, and her kidney readings have been NORMAL! I think it’s the food and the acupuncture. It’s great when we share our helpful insights. Thank you. If you want to extend your own sympathies to others in our community, please do. -

Oh Cathy, I was thinking last evening how, while it’s hard to see our old pets failing, it’s even more shocking and tragic to lose them unexpectedly. I am just so very sorry for your loss. Sheba looks a little like my calico, Nikki, who was hit by a car at nine months. It was decades ago so I am fine, but the grief then was so intense and brutal. Please, Cathy, let us know how you are doing, and know we are here for you.-
Thank you Toni. I have lost 7 pets in the last 7 years. Changed the vet I take my new cat Milo to and also have him on a food free of corn, wheat and soy hoping it will prevent gi issues. I miss them all so much but take comfort in knowing they were loved and had a good home. Will see them all again oneday at the rainbow bridge.
