Elizabeth, what a lovely tribute you have made to Angel and Gabriel. I feel as if I know them each a bit with what you wrote. Did something happen that they both passed within four days? I see they lived full lives, and that shows how much, and well, you cared for them. Thank you for sharing with us. I hope you continue to share stories and photos, and if you can, reach out to others in our community who can use some kind words. Toni
Hi Toni, Angel had a stroke about 5 months prior to Dec 15. It went from bad to worse as she then started having violent seizures which caused her ability to walk, caused her to lose her sight. I had her on homeopathic belladonna right after the first seizures, and for a little while it seemed to straighten her out some before she took a nose dive and lost her sight. I had to decide what was best for her, and I just could not see my beautiful, vibrant Angel girl suffering anymore from the seizures, so confused because she could not see, unable to get around without my help, and she was not only my best friend, and my mobility service dog, she was the VERY beat of my heart. Her and Gabriel had never been apart from the time he was 4 months old and she was 6 weeks, so he lost all will to live without her, and the night he passed, I had been cuddling him on my bed, he wanted down, acted like he wanted to potty and he could use the potty pads, so I put him In the floor which he immediately laid down on the pillow I always kept under Angels head, then a short time later he got upset and went and laid down right in front of my dresser where Angel always liked to lay, and then he just gave up and decided to join her. His heart was as broken as mine, but he got to join her and I still struggle everyday with the loss. Angel was a one of a kind, totally irreplaceable, red wolf/collie hybrid, loyal, faithful, so much more intelligent than most humans, and Gabriel the counter balance that irritated her to distraction, but she would protect him with her life if it had been necessary. Like me, she considered him the problem causer, the clown that always kept you laughing, the buddy everyone likes to have, and as he aged, my little, irritable but still clowning old man. Nothing fills the void they left, even though I have a cat and a dog I got as a puppy to take over Angels mobility service work for me, she has proven not to have the aptitude for much other than having a sweet but cowardly personality. She tries to be comforting and in her own way I think she misses Angel and Gabriel, as I got her at 8 weeks old and she turned 5 last July, so she was always with them for almost 5 years. I think she knows nothing fills the void I have, but I do have to give her a A for trying to fill that gap that is the size of the universe. She does the best she can with the short attention span she has. Angel and Gabriel are buried in my back yard, Gabriel at Angels head, with a little white fence around their area. Each day, Evangelina and I go visit them when I take Evangelina for her daily yard walk. She seems to sense that is where they are. When I can deal with it all a little better, I am going to put headstones out there for them, and plant flowers over them as they both seemed to enjoy sniffing flowers that I had planted around the house. Maybe lillies as my Easter Lily is the one they seemed to like the best.
