I lost my best friend of 11 years Saturday. We have been fighting diabetes for 17 months. We got diagnosed with this damn disease on March 31, 2021 and it took most of her vision within one month. She started getting sick last week and had to be admitted in the hospital on Friday. Saturday morning the vet called me and told me her bloodwork wasn\’t any better and her kidneys were shutting down. I got to spend a couple hours holding her and telling her how much I loved her. He let me stay with her while he done what I knew had to be done. The only peace I kind find is that the last thing she heard was her Mommy telling her how much she loved her. This was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. She wasn\’t a dog. She was my litle girl. My child. It never mattered to me that she had four legs and a tail and I didn\’t give birth to her. She was my baby as much as my two boys ever were. She slept in the bed with me every single night for 11 years. I haven\’t even been able to sleep in my bed since Thursday night. My apartment is so lonely. She has left a hole in my heart that will never be filled. I don\’t know how to get past this. It is a hurt like nothing I have ever felt before. Chloe will forever be my baby girl.

I lost my four legged daughter Ava a year ago this last April. She was a rescue and my shadow for eight years. Rescued her at three and passed at age 11. She was a sweet, loving sensitive soul. So missed and always loved and remembered.Hold onto all the wonderful memories you have of her for comfort. I had no children, so I understand about her being your child. Mine is that for me also.
I had a canvas 16″ X 20″ picture made of her and I pet it and talk to her every day. That helps. (That’s my girl in the photo): https://www.faithfulfriends.com/shop/pet-poster/
You may not be ready to open your home and heart to another for awhile, if ever, but in a surprise move of the universe, a young cat came into my life ten days after BG and I parted and I can tell you he turned me around, made me realize my girl was ready to go and let another little life come be loved. Please stay here with us. Melinda said goodbye to her Ava, Kristi lost Apache, Marilyn and Splinter parted…. so many of us are or have been going through this terrifically powerful time and we are here for you, and for one another. Sending you a heartfelt {{HUG}}. Toni
