I know what you are talking about. My Buddy beagle was only 7. I thought I had a lot longer too. My way of dealing with Buddy’s loss is that when I see a photo or think of a memory, after having that sorrow (I don’t try to keep it a bay) I think about that memory and how happy we were that day. It’s not a cure, there’s nothing for that, but it helps ease the pain of loss.

    Taking it one day at a time I miss my girl so very much but I know she\'s not in any more pain now she\'s at the bridge with her siblings whole and healthy again and I\'ll see her again someday along with her siblings 😢💔

    I understand. My shepherd/Akita started having seizures. I called our vet and she met us at her office. She said, Karen you know it’s time (I’d been putting it off). I’m truly sorry for your loss but I know in my heart your baby will be waiting for you.

      Cheryl, I know you are hurting. I am too. And yes your baby is on the steps of the bridge or very close by waiting for you. She probably has been down to see how you are doing. Since my Buddy beagle passed I have felt him laying behind my knees as he used to do. I’ve also heard him bark. Know that your baby loves you as much as you love her. You will both be in each other’s heart til you can be together again.

        I’m sorry for so many losses but I know they were loved by your family. We lost our Buddy beagle to throat and lung cancer. He was only 8 yrs. But he was a frisky thing! It wasn’t until the night before we helped him cross over that I knew it was time. The way he was acting was an absolute telltale sign. I laid with him and told him if it was time it’s ok. I would help him.
        I’m so happy that you were able to love others . And I’m sure they were all happy also. You have a loving demeanor that helps you go forward. God bless !

Cookie was always cleaning Buddy’s ears, licking the tumor in his throat a sniffing around his chest (where the cancer had spread to. Cookie doesn’t know what to do now. We’ve tried everything the vet suggested and then some. We will probably end up getting another beagle for her (and us).

            Amber looks a lot like our Cookie. She’s a husky/lab mix. I posted some pictures if you want to. I’m really sorry for Ambers Passing, I know how it hurts. In the last three years we lost three fur babies. 2 from cancer and one from seizures. I look at their pictures often and although it hurts I can’t help but smile thinking about their personalities and how much they loved us and trusted us to do the right thing for them. Please know that your Amber loved you. I could see it in her eyes in your picture, and I know you’ve heard this before but she is with you. She comes to visit you. You of course can’t see her but when you sometimes when your heart feels full of love, it’s probably Amber checking to make sure you’re ok. God bless you Deborah.

              Well, I’m still missing Buddy beagle I still feel him behind my knees eat night and sometimes I think I hear his little beagle yodel. But we got another dog, not to replace Buddy, but to hopefully console our husky/lab Cookie. She was in a depression we couldn’t get her out of. Our new dog in Anika, and although she looks like a beagle , after doing some research we’ve decided that Anika is at least part tree walking coonhound. Some of them look very much like a beagle with some differences of course. I posted two pictures but one came in upside down, which pretty much describes my life right now. I’m posting another pic of Anika. And one more of Cookie. I’m also going to try to post a little poster that helps me when I think of our Buddy beagle.

              I understand. My Buddy was so much a part of the family that when I let him cross the bridge I picked him up, completely expecting him to struggle ( he hated being picked up certain ways) and of course he didn’t move on his own.

                Let me rephrase….Buddy had a tumor on the side of his neck and it protruded quite a bit. Cookie would lick Buddy’s neck and even scratch at it with her teeth as they will when trying to chew at fleas.
