Those items of remembrance can help, Toni. I have a sweatshirt with my BG on it and always feel good wearing it. I touch and kiss her picture. Blankets and toys they liked can help bring comfort, too. Little by little, our memories bring a bit more perpective and peace, knowing we shared their best life and that they are now at peace. And other life events that take our interest, concern and effort take us away from our pain for awhile. It sounds as if you have too much of that right now – how is your husband? Doesn’t it seem things tend to come at once, like a big rainstorm that just dumps on you? Well, eventually things will “dry out” and the sun will come out again for you, Toni. Let us help hold the umbrella over you. {HUGS}

Good to hear, Toni. It takes time and knowing September 10th is just around the corner brings up many memories. I hope on that day you can find some joy and celebrate the years of love you shared with Bailey. We’ll be here for you. I hope to see you August 17th in our group. Toni
Rocky passed in September.Bailey is my new dog.Ot doesn’t seem like it’s almost been a year since Rocky passed.I still cry a lot of days and always think of him.Bailey helps.She is such a character.😄🥲🐾🐾❤️💖
Ten days after BG died, a friend needed a home for one year old Boots. I was absolutely not ready to bring in a new pet. But if I can keep an animal out of a shelter, I will. So I did welcome Boots and he was such an active, engaging, curious and sweet boy, he helped me heal from my loss. He made me realize that BG lived her life, and I was lucky to share some of it with her, but new life needs love, too. We can never “replace” a pet, but we can open our homes and hearts to new life and love. Boots is back with his person and I miss (and worry about) him, but I credit him with helping me heal. Do NOT let anyone pressure you into adopting if you’re not ready, but in my case, having a new joy was just what I needed.
