@vicki1956 Nutmeg – the name makes me smile. I hope you are finding smiles before tears with your memories of Nutmeg and the loving life you shared, Vicki. Please tell us about your time together, and share some photos if you like. Toni

    • I was the nanny to the litter of Frenchton puppies that a friend’s dog had. There were 10 puppies, 5 boys and 5 girls. All of them including momma Tulip were healthy and active. As they started walking it became clear that there was something wrong with Nutmeg’s left hind leg as it seemed to not stay in the hip joint. At 6 weeks we learned that Nutmeg was born with out a left hip socket. I decided that I was taking her and she was going to have the best life she could have. At 9 months old she had an FHO surgery and was spayed. The doctor who did the procedure said that he felt that she just didn’t have enough room to grow due to the size of the litter. It never even slowed her down. She ran and wrestled with her siblings and always climbed to the top of the puppy pile. She was 2 1/2 years old when she fell while playing on the bed. Within hours she couldn’t move her rear legs, refused food and water and was clearly suffering from severe pain. I took her to the Emergency and Specilty Hospital where they got her comfortable. She had critically damaged her spinal cord. The doctor said that she would never recover and would be in constant pain.
I only had her for a short time but I know that I gave her more love and the best possible life she could have had. I sure do miss my little Angel monster.
      • So sorry for your loss 😞 Nutmeg was a fighter from the time she was born and I know you loved her so much. Such an unfortunate accident to happen to her. She was so young 😞
Sending you hugs 🫂 to comfort you at this very sad time. 💔
