Cookie was a small girl who was a huge part of your family for a long time, Carla, and it’s understandable that your world feels broken, because a part of it broke away. I am so very sorry. Our pets are only on loan to us, never for long enough – forever iwouldn’t be enough time together. I hope you can weigh the seventeen wonderful years of joy against this painful period and find joy knowing Cookie shared her best life with you. If she sent you a Thank You note, what would she say?
