    Big News (and a huge surprise)!! I always say the universe hears us, and look what it delivered to me! This sweet ten year old boy was recently orphaned when his human died and he is now living with me. I am delighted and hope he feels the same :-). He needs lots of attention and lets me brush him, he sits with me, talks to me, and follows me. We\'re seeing the vet tomorrow for a full physical and a \'caticure - his claws are really long and he doesn\'t want me to clip them just yet. I wasn\'t expecting to meet \"Walter\" - I think I\'ll call him Wonder - and I feel so grateful and happy to have a new love in my home and life. I\'ll keep ypu posted about Wonder (what do you think of that name?). And please, let us know how you are doing. Toni

    I felt the same way when Drake passed. He was barely 10. Just didn’t seem like enough time. Hugs.

      2 months ago today I had to say goodbye to my best friend 😢 it\'s been the worst two months. Luigi was a kind, gentle, sweet boy and certainly didn\'t deserve to die at 12 1/2 years old. 💔

      I know I’ve been missing for a bit since I lost my dear boy Drake, but that’s only because we decided to rescue this sweet boy and OMG puppies are busy little things!!! But everyone meet Fezziwig. He hasn’t quite filled the hole left by Drake, but he sure does make it a bit easier.

      Friday was a beautiful day. We cuddled. We ate fries. Got dressed up for family pictures. Actually laid in our own bed. And finished the day off be cleaning out a mostly empty peanut butter jar. He was definitely sent off in style. Saturday we said goodbye. I’m still waiting for that relief that everyone keeps talking about. All I can think of right now is how lonely my office is without him. I’m sure it gets easier. Just not today.

      Thanks Toni. It’s been a rough week indeed. But I’m soaking up every moment I possibly can. I super appreciate your concern. I’m not looking forward to this weekend at all and I’m hoping my heart can handle what is to come.

        Toni and Suzanne,

        Thank you so much for your kind words. They meant a lot. We do have a special day planned, all my children who are grown are spending the night after my son’s senior pictures and we are going to hang out with Drake. Then in the morning he will pass peacefully in his favorite room in the house … our 3 season porch. We are planning to have his ashes turned into a planter that sprouts wildflowers so we can see them and remember him fondly each year. Then I am having a paw print and photo framed to place in my office. I really love the pet canvas idea too! I will definitely look into it. He’d make a very handsome portrait.

        And thank you for this site. It is a great comfort during this difficult time!

Last week we made the decision that we will be putting him to rest on October 1st (As my son wants him in his senior pictures first) and I am so not looking forward to that day. He\'s only 10 and I was so sure I\'d have more time with him! Life has been quite sad since the diagnosis, but I am soaking up every moment with him until his time is here. I referred to him as my \"puppy immersion therapy\" when we adopted him and he has been there for me in innumerable ways. My heart is just in a million pieces over all this. Glad a coworker recommended this group.
