I always had pets growing up. Everyone was the best dog or cat ever in the entire world. Caesar my bestest buddie passed away January 2019. He was diagnosed with Epilepsy and had seizures, but not close enough together to put him on meds. The meds would have done more harm to his body than good. He must have had a seizure during the night and hurt his back, I had no choice, he was paralyzed. I live with that decision but know in my heart it was for the best for him. He is running free over that rainbow bridge playing with all the other pets I had. It hurts my heart to this day. I miss him.

Yes, Jennie, the selfless, kind act of releasing our beloved pet from suffering is so very difficult and heart wrenching, even though we intellectually know it’s our final act of kindness we can extend after a life together. I am sorry you had to say goodbye to Caesar, but you acted in his best interest, and with Love. If you are not ready to bring another faithful friend into your home, perhaps you could volunteer to walk dogs at a shelter to help fill the void?….
