• @momee Hi Maureen. Just checking to see how you are doing now? {{HUGS}} Toni

    • Good morning Toni. Thank you for checking in with me. I am still taking things one day at a time. Some days are better than others. It has been 8 months now since I lost Romeo and I just don’t know where the time has gone. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever been through and I am still so heartbroken. I know there are so many others suffering the loss of their fur babies too and my heart breaks for them, as well.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Huge hugs to you too.
      • It’s amazing how time truly does go by so quickly. Grief heals in it’s own time and you are doing what you can by moving through it day by day. This may sound silly but can you watch some cute baby animal videos or visit a shelter? I find comfort knowing there are new lives to be enjoyed after we’ve said goodbye to our beloveds. Not that you should adopt, but just to get a dose of youthful exuberance. Let us know if you do that, and always keep us updated. Will we get to meet you at this month’s group meeting? The link is under “Events”. I feel as if we know you because you are so kind in supporting so many others here. 🤗💔Toni
        • Hi Toni, I have been watching videos about rescue groups and also shelters. Sometimes watching about the shelter dogs makes me sad because of the conditions they are living in. I want to go to my local shelter to see if I can get a cuddle in, but, I am allergic to shedding animals and have that concern. But, I do think I need to go somewhere to visit these poor babies. I would love to be able to sit with a scared baby and tell them it will be okay, but, like I said, I have allergies. I think maybe, ‘just take a allergy pill and do it Maureen’ 🤷
I still can’t think of ever getting another dog. My age and health are concerns. But, being around them might give me the joy I so miss.
I want to let you know that I have a hard time connecting with this site and I will try to get in on one of the group meetings soon. I would love to meet all of you. Meanwhile, I will continue my support of others whenever I can.
Thank you, again, for your support xx
          • That’s a brilliant idea, Maureen, if your allergies can withstand the exposure. I’m going to start fostering again. Like you, I am not ready to adopt but miss having furry ones around :-). Let us know what happens. Toni
          • @motherofbulldogs Hello Stephanie, and welcome to our caring community. Clearly you are an animal lover, having said goodbye to Cliff, Leo and Douggie. Karon, Thank you for sharing your touching and inspirational story. You have touched a lot of hearts and I appreciate the time you gave to tell us about Serenity and Einstein. Yes, our animals grieve alongside us and we support each other through those terribly painful times. This is why we are here – to listen to stories about life with our beloved pets, and to support one another as we mourn, and recover. Please continue to share with us, and give Einstein some good lovin’ from me 😻🤗💕. We’ll be waiting to hear from you. {{HUGS}} Toni

Oh Julie, Max is still within your heart and it hasn’t been very long for you to live without his presence in your home. It’s undertandable, and truly okay for you to feel the pains you do, and to cry. In fact, crying is good for you, to get rid of the sad toxins created by grief. So Julie, may I offer a way to navigate through this terribly hurtful time? Can you think of the times you shared with Max that were good, fun and loving, and see how many of those you shared and enjoyed? Perhaps that will help give a perspective. Our pets are only “on loan” to us, never for long enough, and we can honor our time together by recalling and celebrating all of the fabulous time we were allowed to share. I hope that helps you a bit, and I invite you to join our group meeting Sep. 21st to share more about Max with us. We’re here for you. {HUGS} Toni
              • @amo527 Hi Amy. I am sorr for your loss of Mabel and hope you are doing alright – are you? What kind of pet was Mabel? What a fun name – how did she get it? We’d love to hear more about your life with Mabel, and please share some photos if you like. Toni

              • @lissa13 Sable. What a pretty name. Was Sable black, Melissa? What kind of pet was Sable? How did you meet? May we hear about your lives together, see some pictures? We’re here for you, Melissa. Toni

Sally, I still choke up when I see pictures of my dear old Squirt, and she’s been gone decades. The love doesn’t go away, and while the acute pain fades, a little pain and melancholy accompanies the memories of all the wonderful times we shared. You have lost so many loves in such a short period, it’s undertsandable that you are moved to tears. It’s okay to cry – in fact, it helps clear toxins from our bodies. Anniversaries stir up strong emotions, too and I encourage you to join our group meeting Sep. 24th in anticipation of Ooky’s. A nice suggestion from one of our members: in addition to marking the anniversary of the date of parting, celebrate the date of birth or adoption! I think that’s lovely and hope that brings you a bit of comfort. We’ll be here for you. {{HUGS}} Toni
