Hi Selma, I am very sorry. How long has it been? The pain of losing a beloved pet is one of the deepest we experience. I found holding and sleeping with a stuffed toy helped, some hold pillows – something to literally hold on to. You may find writing notes to Sissy Girl, and writing FROM Sissy Girl to you, helps to recall all the wonderful times you shared. Our pets are only “on loan” to us, never for long enough, and it’s helpful to remember the many fun, funny and loving times we got to spend together. We are here for you, Selma, and you are welcome to share more about Sissy Girl. Also, if you can join our group meeting Thursday Sep. 21st at 7 Eastern (4 Pacific) you will meet understanding, sympathetic people. We’ll be thinking of you. {{HUGS}} Toni

Oh my, Sandra. That is just heartbreaking. 💔I am glad you opened your home and heart to your new little one. What is his name? May we see some cute puppy pictures and follow his (mis)adventures with you?
      • @momee Hi Maurenn. So, have you looked into visiting or volunteering at a shelter? Our local shelter lets you go and just visit with the pets.

It is good of you to think about this. I encourage people to have 2 – 3 trusted homes who will take in your pets, and you will want to leave them money to pay for their care. Everything should be in writing. Here is a link to my article about planning for pets:https://www.faithfulfriends.com/pet-estate-planning/ It can be found iin our “Library”.
I applaud you for looking after your babies 🙌Toni

That’s a brilliant idea, Maureen, if your allergies can withstand the exposure. I’m going to start fostering again. Like you, I am not ready to adopt but miss having furry ones around :-). Let us know what happens. Toni
                • @allisonburkhead80 Hi Allison. I have been thinking of you and wonder how you are doing, Honey 💔{{HUGS}} Toni

                • I see so many names and candles, and am so sincerely sorry for the partings from our dearly beloved pets. Please, after you light a candle, let us “meet” your baby/ies and tell us more. We are all animal lovers, have all said goodbye, and are here to share our support and understanding. And, we are here to help remember the joys and love we’ve shared. Don’t forget that! 💔💕

                • @amunoz Hello Audrey. I am so sorry for your loss. Will you tell us about your baby and your lives together? Are you doing okay? Not so good? We are right here for you with understanding and support. Toni

                • @christi50 Hi Christi. Welcome to our caring community. Chewy. What a great name. Will you tell us about Chewy: What kind of pet ? How you met? May we see pictures and hear more about your lives together? And Christi, how are you doing? We’re here for you, and are so sad and sorry for your loss. Toni

I am so sorry, Michelle, and am sending you my deepest sympathy.💔Luigi and the others are mourning alongside you. Luigi sounds like a very sensitive soul. Saying goodbye is the “down side” of loving, and getting through the grief of loss is helped by having others with whom to share it. I say “joy shared is joy doubled, grief shared is grief halved”. You are welcome to bring Luigi and the others to our onlne group meeting Thursday Sep. 21st if you like. Please let us know how you are coming along, Michelle. We’ll be thinking of you. Toni

Of course you are not okay, Teresa. It is such a recent loss and your house is empty without Muffin. That is brutally painful. Do you have family or friends with whom you can visit? Maybe stay with for a little bit? If not, can you get out of the house for a few hours each day, perhaps sit in a park? Anything to fill in the hole that has been left. I found sleeping with a stuffed toy helpful. Watch silly things on TV. Keep moving if you can. I mopped the floors over and over just to keep busy. Teresa, in our heads we know our pets are only “on loan” to us, never for long enough. It’s our hearts that ache when their lives have run their course. When you are able, can you think of Muffin’s life like a ruler with each of her 11 years as an inch. Up until the very last part of that ruler, Muffin shared a great life of love and joy with you. Perhaps thinking of that will help. Also, you could write notes to Muffin, then write what her response to you would be. I bet she’d be grateful for the life you shared and want you to be happy for having her in your life. Please keep in touch with us, and come to our group Sep. 21st. I am so very sorry, Teresa, and we are here to help you through this. 💔💔Toni

Allison, I will, we will, be thinking of you both with love. If you want to, please feel safe and welcome to share with us here. I took pictures of my babies and clipped some of their fur. I brought small scissors and a plastic bag, but most doctors can clip fur for you. Now, that’s just something important to me, you may have other ways in which to memorialize Kush. 💔💔💔💔Toni

It’s amazing how time truly does go by so quickly. Grief heals in it’s own time and you are doing what you can by moving through it day by day. This may sound silly but can you watch some cute baby animal videos or visit a shelter? I find comfort knowing there are new lives to be enjoyed after we’ve said goodbye to our beloveds. Not that you should adopt, but just to get a dose of youthful exuberance. Let us know if you do that, and always keep us updated. Will we get to meet you at this month’s group meeting? The link is under “Events”. I feel as if we know you because you are so kind in supporting so many others here. 🤗💔Toni
                        • @teresasegars I am so sorry for your loss, Teresa. Muffin. The name makes me smile. What kind of pet was Muffin? How did you meet? How long were you together? May we hear about Muffin and see some photos? Are you doing okay, Teresa? Not so good? We’re here for you with sympathy and understanding. Toni

                          • Muffin was shitzu and havanese. I adopted her 11 years ago. She was my whole life and I’m not ok at all. It started out with her eye having a infection. Took her to the vet and the vet didn’t really check her but a tech did. Sent her home with antibiotics and predizone. She quit eating and then quit drinking water. I still don’t know what really happened to her. She passed on labor day and there was no vets open. Couldn’t afford to take her miles away to a emergency vet. I’m on a fixed income. I had planned to take her the day after Labor Day but she didn’t make it. I’m not ok at all. She loved me unconditionally and was always happy to see me. I’m all alone now

Oh Paula, I am terribly sorry for your losses. What a lot of sorrow you have had. 💔How long ago was this? May we hear more about Molly and your lives together? How are you coming along? {{HUGS}} Toni

Allison, I am so sorry. Watching our little darlings fail is brutal and breaks your heart every minute. Have you scheduled euthanasia? May I say that the actual passing is a release and relief for Kush and I think you will feel good knowing she isn’t suffering any more. You are keeping your promise to always do what is best for her, and helping her have a peaceful passing is the most loving, kind gift you can give her. Your heart is already breaking, and it will be painful to be home without her. May I suggest you not get rid of her things too quickly? Maybe put them away somewhere for awhile and one day you may want to pull them out, or donate them, but I regretted getting rid of everything too quickly. Do you have someone to be with you? Do you have another pet? If so, they will be mourning, too, and I hope you find comfort and support in each other. If not, I found a stuffed toy helped me. We are right here for you, Allison. Let us know what’s going on, and how you are. Please join us Thursday Sep. 21st in our group meeting. I am sending you my deepest sympathy 💔💔Toni
