Hi everyone, just wanted to remember my beautiful Russian blue dukie on his 7th birthday today he is so much missed everyday. RIP my sweet boy. 😿
    • Thinking of you ❤️
      • Christine, I had a Russian Blue – I named her Chivo. She literally walked in the front door. I picked her up and it felt like she was pregnant so I took her to a doctor and he said she was due within a week. I stayed home from work all week, waiting. And waiting….She didn’t get ant bigger, and no kittens came, so I took her to another vet and they said she HAD been pregnant. She was a mean cat – would attack me, was actually kind of scary, until we brought home a kitten in need. Well, Chivo took that little kitten to her, cradled and loved her, and became her mother. From that moment, Chivo was a sweet, loving cat. She just needed her babies. Sorry to ramble, but you brought up those memories and I think it’s good for all of us in our community to share our stories.
How long have you and Dukie been parted? How did you meet?
          • Toni, thats a touching story im glad she ended up becoming nice. Its amazing what little kittens can do. Dukie passed away 9 months ago he had asthma. How did we met! Well..this might be long. I was working at a gas station and i came into work at 6 am and then around 8 am one of my co workers came to me and wanted me to come see something so he takes me outside and low and behold there is a little kitten about 2 months old sitting in the corner on a piece of ice mind you i live in ohio and it was winter and it was about 2 degrees outside when i saw him i could not let him stay there so my coworker got me a box i picked him up and he let me pick him up poor thing was probably so cold my boss let me take him home good thing i didn’t live far when i got home with him since i had 2 other cats at that time i told my boyfriend that i couldnt leave him in the cold and i would take him to the humane society the next day he stayed in the back room for two days probably thawing out and then on the third day he came meowing down th hall and needless to say he became a big part of the family i dont know how he got to that store not sure if someone dropped him off cause it was a busy place or if he hitched a ride im leaning more towards hitching a ride cause he smelled like oil i would hate to think thats how he got there cause that is scary. He won over everyones heart and we could not tke him to the humane society he was to cute and sweet it would of broke my heart and my boyfriend said he wasnt going anywhere so we welcome him to our home and so glad we kept him i couldnt give him up he came to me for a reason he knew i would take care of him and i did then he developed asthma and he had been put on meds and one of th pills were steroids and he got huge from them then i put him on an inhaler (less side affects) he lived with asthma up utill he passed it got the better of him..but he was so very much loved and he knew it he will always be a huge part of are hearts its had when we see a cat that looks like him 😞😿. Thanks for reading my story Toni means and helps alot..Hugs to you.
              • Christine, this is so nice in so many ways: 1. He found you 2. You found him -good for your co-worker to show him to you 3. Good he didn’t get sick from the oil. Anti-freeze can be deadly, too (we have an article about poisons in our Library).4. Good for your boyfriend-Keep him, too! 5. Good for getting him on the right medications (Mine is on a number of things and we tried a liquid antibiotic and it was awful-she literally foamed at the mouth, so we went to what they call “tiny tabs” that are specially compounded and mailed to us). 6. Good for your other kitties to embrace him. Overall, Good for you all to be part of a loving family. The parting is hard, but the lives lived were not to be missed. We love stories and they can’t be too long. Keep sharing them. ๐Ÿ™‚
