Is that when you took in Daisy Mae? Cooper was really cute. I’m sorry he had to go and hope you are doing well.-
Yes,Toni , it was . Cooper passed on July 9, and we got Daisy Mae on August 15th of 2016. A friend of mine ( in the rescue world) knew that we had just lost Cooper, and who had helped us with his “acclimation issues ( afraid of men) , called me , and asked if I would be willing to “take on ” a GOLDEN RETRIEVER ” ( knowing full well that’s my favorite breed) …She’s the one who made the connection happen between me and Daisy’s owner. I don’t want it to SEEM like I “replaced” ( cause I don’t believe that you can) one dog for another. Cooper and Daisy are same in SOME ways ( the golden part) but different in alot of ways ,too.
-
Nope, I know you didn’t “replace” Cooper. They can’t be replaced, but it’s lovely of you to welcome Daisy Mae so fully. Some people can’t bring a new pet in for a very long time, some are always ready to embrace a new love and provide a healthy, happy home. I volunteer at our local shelter fostering cats in need of medical healing until they are well enough to be adopted, and it’s tough taking them back. I’m a “Foster Flunky” because I fell in love with my cat and adopted her. She only has one tooth and is experiencing systemic inflammation for which I give her an antibiotic and steroid each day, and now her thyroid and kidneys are not good. It’s heart wrenching for me to see but she seems in good spirits and no pain, so we enjoy our times together and make a lot of lovin’.

@catlover82 Hello Jen. Was Nikie a cat? May we see pictures? My cat is going to be seventeen in March and it’s so hard to see her declining. Are you doing okay? How can we help?

Daisy Mae is toooo darling. I know what you mean about anticipating the days when they are gone, Paula. My soon to be seventeen year old kitty is doing okay, but failing, and I am devastated already thinking about saying goodbye. But, I wouldn’t exchange the years of love we’ve had. Enjoy Daisy Mae and know she’s very happy to be with you. Keep us posted. Hugs to you both. -

How cute. I can’t identify what type or types of breed Cheech is. Can you tell us? I’m a mutt myself, so it doesn’t much matter. What matters is how well loved Cheech was, and well you were loved back. -

Oh Gawd….that is so touching, Paula. That’s what they, and if we’re kind, we, do – look out for and take care of one another. I think it’s the pure kindness and love of pets that make us realize how good we can be too. Will you please let us know how you, and your other pet loves, are doing? I hope this holiday brings you all more joy than sorrow. Toni -

Awww.. love the “eye patches”. Yes, this is the hard part of love – the leaving. They are only on loan to us, and they are so fortunate to have us love them, as we are to receive their love, I’m sorry, but know one day your smiles will precede your tears, Keep us informed, Antoinette. Here’s a HUG! -

@blueeyes64 Paula, I see your tribute candles to Addison and Cooper. I also see your email is from Rescue Dogs. Will you tell us about Addison and Cooper? And, tell us about Rescue Dogs? We’d like to support you in your losses, and learn more about your organization. Please, stay in touch about how you are doing, and. if we may support Rescue Dogs, we’d love to. Toni

Hi Toni.. my email is ” [email protected] “.Sorry for the confusion. Both Addison and Cooper are at the “Rainbow Bridge ” and while WE( my husband, Joe ) and I miss them ,we have memorials of each of them that he made . Right now, We are trying to REALLY ENJOY the time we have with our 11 year old GOLDEN RETRIEVER, DAISY. ( She’s in ” that window of time” I know we will be devastated when she goes… I absolutely love my golden girl. ALLL OF OUR PUPS HAVE BEEN RESCUES.
( HENCE MY EMAIL)We also did foster for an all breed rescue. WAAAY before Addison ( back in 96 when we got married, we had a black lab/ Rottweiler mix) named Woody that I had when I was married to my ex husband. He dropped him off to me cause he was leaving Illinois. Anyway, Woody lived to be 14 years old until cancer took him. Woody was the 1st dog we had that was May 2005when he passed.-
Paula, you are one heck of a nice, loving person. Your work with rescues is wonderful and I know it’s awful to lose them, and your anticipation with Daisy Mae is very hard, but you know the joys will outweigh the sadness. We’ll always miss their company, but the memories are precious. I hope these holidays are nice for you and all of yours. If you are inclined, please extend your support and sympathies to others in the community.

Oh goodness, Joanne. You are right, of course – the kindest, most loving gift we can give back is the ultimate act of helping them find relief and release from pain. We know that, but the emotional pain is so hard. I am so, so sorry and hope we can help you get through the pain by letting you know that at some point, some day, a smile of fond memories will come before a tear. You have to let us know how you are doing, please. I’m thinking of you, and sending you a hug. Oh, I am not familiar with Catahoula Leopard dog. When you are up to it, will you send us some pictures, and tell us about them? Toni - Load More
