Anniversaries are hard enough, but holidays seem to amplify it. I am truly sorry. I hope you will be kind to yourself, and let your feelings flow. You are welcome to share them with us. I’ll be thinking of you and Bandit, Joanne. Let me know if I can help support you. -

@ashlee Hi Emily. I see your tribute candle to Keema, and am sorry for your loss. That’s an interesting name – does it have a special meaning? Can you share some pictures of Keema with us? What type of pet was Keema? Let us know how you are. Toni

@wildheart Hi Terri. Is this Shadow or Pookie, or someone else? Please tell us about them. How are you holding up?
-
Shadow is my cat I lost in 2009 and Pookie is my dog I lost on Christmas Eve 2018.
-
Oh, no…I think holidays bring memories of those no longer with us to the forefront, and to lose Pookie on Christmas Eve must be especially difficult for you. And this year, with so many sad and strange things happening, it may be that much harder. How are you coping? If you have been reading some of our community members’ notes, some aren’t having trees or really celebrating while others are doing even more for the season. (I didn’t put up a tree this year for the first time in decades). 2018 wasn’t that long ago, and I am hoping, with time, you will have more smiles than tears when thinking of Shadow and Pookie. Please let us know how you are doing, Terri. Toni
-
I am still brokenhearted over losing both but it really killed me losing Pookie on Christmas Eve. It will never be the same. It was sudden & unexpected but I Thank God I was there when he crossed over. After about 9 or 10 months I adopted a little Chihuahua and named her Jeckle. She turned 5 on Halloween and it blind in 1 eye. I couldn’t bring myself to get another baby until I healed a little but I have enough love to share with a new baby. By the way my profile picture is of my Pookie.
-
Terri, that is so loving and generous of you to bring little Jeckle into your loving home. Post her picture in our Celebrate area so we can enjoy her with you, please. I’m going to be thinking of you this week.

Oh Cathy, I am so sorry. He is handsome and I see in the picture the love you shared. It’s been less than a year and there is no time line for healing. Some day your smiles will come before the tears, but that’s all in your own time. We provide access to a grief counselor if you would find that helpful. Letting your feelings out with our community may help because we all understand and are here to support you. Don’t hesitate to keep sharing your feelings with us, and let us know how you are doing. I think holidays make things harder, and soon the daylight will last longer – maybe that will help lift your spirits. I’m thinking of you. -

Dear Celeste, it sounds as if chatting with Rev. Glenn may be helpful for you. You can click the link in the box on the right side of this page if you would like. (Grief Counseling). October is not very long to recover from this loss and you are not required to “celebrate holidays” (I didn’t put up a tree, either). This year has been so stressful, with so many challenges, it’s especially to suffer such a significant loss. Please let me know how you are doing, and yes, I am keeping you in my thoughts. Hugs. @cezyb Hello Celeste. Please, tell us about your pets, share their stories and pictures. How are you doing? Toni

I’ll be totally honest and say I’m struggling. I lost my Chloe in Oct and I didn’t want to do anything for Thanksgiving or Christmas. I did and I will but I haven’t decorated for Christmas or even put up our tree. I dont know if I will ever get to over losing her. Please keep me in your prayers.

Oh, there she is! I just saw the adorable picture of Maggie. Looks like a hot day. How long were you together?-
She was born July of 2010 and she came to me Oct of 2010 on our boy Gunners 1st bday. She was his bday present. The 2 of them were always together. They would both chase the deer and other critters on our land. Maggie always was smiling. Everyone who met her fell in love and she loved them right back. She was my granddaughters constant companion. We miss her so much.
-
Wendy, Your loss is so recent and it’s just awful how much it hurts. Gunner is eleven now? How is he doing with this? The holiday season was sad enough this year, and I am so, so sorry. Please keep us posted on how you and your family are. I’m thinking of you. Toni

Hi again Joanne. He’s a cutie alright. What Christmas was this? The holidays are especially hard because we have specific memories of those past, do you think? Are you finding more smiles than tears? That comes with time. I hope this holiday, with all it’s strangeness, is not too hard for you. Please ,let us know how it is. Here is a HUG for you…… -

Nope, I know you didn’t “replace” Cooper. They can’t be replaced, but it’s lovely of you to welcome Daisy Mae so fully. Some people can’t bring a new pet in for a very long time, some are always ready to embrace a new love and provide a healthy, happy home. I volunteer at our local shelter fostering cats in need of medical healing until they are well enough to be adopted, and it’s tough taking them back. I’m a “Foster Flunky” because I fell in love with my cat and adopted her. She only has one tooth and is experiencing systemic inflammation for which I give her an antibiotic and steroid each day, and now her thyroid and kidneys are not good. It’s heart wrenching for me to see but she seems in good spirits and no pain, so we enjoy our times together and make a lot of lovin’. -

Paula, you are one heck of a nice, loving person. Your work with rescues is wonderful and I know it’s awful to lose them, and your anticipation with Daisy Mae is very hard, but you know the joys will outweigh the sadness. We’ll always miss their company, but the memories are precious. I hope these holidays are nice for you and all of yours. If you are inclined, please extend your support and sympathies to others in the community. - Load More
