@ianistyblue Hello Correen. I see your tribute candles in memory of Coyote and Misty, and am sorry for your losses. What type of pets were they? Please tell us about them, and let us know how you are doing.

Oh yuck, Katy. I really understand because that’s a similar story about my wonderful dog, Prince. I always think I should have stayed in the clinic with him overnight – the night he died. But you know what? Even some humans decide to die alone. It sounds like you were 100% there for Lucy, and I suspect she knew it. Don’t feel bad – you WERE there for, and with her. It’s clear she knew great love from you. Tell me, how are you doing now? Toni
      • I’m doing okay. I have another J.R name Bella who I’ve had for about 2 years. She’ll be 9 years old on 4/20.

Christy – Lots of cats?! You are my kind of gal…I love cats (and dogs, of course). I had three cats that all literally adopted me by walking in my house, at different times. I figure they have a network that tells them which home is welcoming, or something. Can you show us pictures of Shadow, Kayde and the cats? …How many cats do you have now? This will be really fun to see and follow. 🙂

@kingsmommy Hi Linda. How are you doing – I see your tributes to Bones and Pearla. What nice names – how did they get those? What type of pets were they? I hope you are doing well, and that you will feel comfortable sharing your stories, pictures and sympathies in our community. We all love our pets and animals, and understand the grieving and healing when we lose a beloved friend. Toni

@cfulghum1971 Cherrie, I am sorry for your losses of Oreo and Darla. I know a wonderful dog named Oreo – he is, of course, black and white. Was your Oreo a black and white pet? What kind? Did Oreo live with Darla? Will you tell us about them, please? Show us some pictures? Let us know how you are, too. Toni

It’s always so hard to have them leave, Little things trip us up – like reaching for their favorite food, looking for them…. it takes time to heal, to have the smiles come before the tears…but it does come – the time when we think of them and laugh and are so happy for our times together. We’re all in this together, and it is so special, nice and caring, and important to know that…

Oh my dog – are you okay now? Did you have a panic attack? Would a call with our grief counsellor help you? How can we help you work through your grief? This is a safe place to seek or lend support and we will do what we can to help you heal, and find a place where you can remember Peanut with joy. Please, let us know…

Oh, Katy…You have been through so much and I am very sorry. Thank you for sharing your story about how dangerous household items can be to pets. Anti-Freeze is dangerous, possibly deadly, to pets, too. Your story may save other pets and I appreciate your information. When did this happen? How old was Lucy? So, how are you holding up, Katy? How can we help support you?
                        • Lucy passed May of 2015. And the worst thing about it, the mother never told me about it until AFTER Lucy wasn’t feeling good. First day, Lucy wasn’t eating or drinking alot. Second day, she could barely jump off the bed and walk. Third day, she couldn’t jump off the bed, and I put her in her lil stroller and pushed her to the vet, they gave her a potassium shot, kept her over night, and she passed over night. I felt bad cause I wasn’t there during her last moments. But I was hoping the shot would have helped and I would take her home. The good thing is that I got a sympathy card from the vet. Which was nice.

Oh gosh…Darlene… That is such a heart-wrenching story of love and loss. It wasn’t a comfortable time for her and you did all you could, and letting her go was an act of love and kindness. It’s just so hard… I am so very sorry. I hope you take comfort knowing that you helped her find release and relief, from a place of deep love….
Please, let us know how you are healing. Toni

Dear Cristy, Wow – you obviously take very good care of your pets. What a long life Mr. Pudders enjoyed with you. It’s so hard when they have been through so many of life’s ups and downs with us, but how wonderful for them, and us, to have had so many years together. I understand kidney failure is common in certain pets, and I’m sorry for what Mama Dew, and you, had to go through. It’s heartbreaking to see them failing. Storm is beautiful and I am sure your husband misses Storm. Do you have other pets now, I hope?

What caused her trachea to collapse? Is that common in her breed? What breed was she? She has very cool markings and looks so smart and sweet. I am sure you miss her, even with your other pets to keep you company. It shouldn’t be otherwise. It is very okay to still grieve Mona. Darlene, when you feel like it, will you show us your dogs and bird, and tell us about them, too? Please do let us know about the trachea – it may help other community members.
                                      • She was a rat Terrier she stayed tiny never really grew. Her trachea was bad for awhile and with meds it just wasn’t enough to stop her from coughing went to several different vets and all did what they could do for her. So had to make the decision to get her out of her pain and stop the coughing and let her breathe again. It was horrible but all the poor thing baby did was cough and couldn’t breathe had to put her in oxygen tents cause she turned blue. Was always at the vet. I couldn’t let her go through it anymore I wanted her to be at peace and not suffer anymore.
