@mommabear254 Hi Misty. Gertrude is a powerful name – what kind of pet was she? I am very sorry to hear of your loss and hope you are doing okay – are you? Still rough times? May we hear about her please?

    • Gertrude was my best friend! She was a German Shepherd / Border collie mix with a heart of gold. I rescued her at only 7 weeks old and we spent 13 wonderful years together. She was such a funny, silly, smart, loving, caring furbaby!Gertrude absolutely loved the rose bushes we planted. She would smell the flowers every morning when they were blooming. She loved putting her face into the wind with her nose up to the sky and just soak in the day or cuddle with some covers watching a movie or reading a book. I could spend forever talking about her. I miss her so much. She crossed the rainbow bridge july 21, 2019 to a major stroke. I miss her dearly. Mornings are the wose for me. I still wake up some mornings and roll over to pet her before I remember she is not here. She is buried in my yard under a big tree. I cut some rose blooms off our roses and place them on her grave cause she loved them so much. There are still rough times for sure. She was amazing!
        • Thank you for your moving and sweet story about Gertrude, Misty. She was a close, cherished friend of yours and I know how much it hurts to say goodbye. Little things can bring the tears out of the blue – right? Are you finding smiles come, too, as you look at the roses and think of her? There is no set amount of time for healing and you are welcome to share how you are doing. Also, if you read some posts here that touch you, please share your own understanding and sympathies with our other community members – we’re here to help comfort. I am sending you a big HUG. Toni

Oh gosh, Tammy. That sounds like my childhood dog, Prince. He didn’t get up all day and we took him to the vet, where he died overnight. In a way, it’s best for them to have a healthy life until one very bad day. Letting them go peacefully is the most loving, generous, and difficult acts of kindness we can share with them. I am very sorry for your loss. Are you finding smiles before tears when you think of him, or still feeling pretty ‘raw’?

I have a 17 year old kitty. I brought her home to foster care for her while she recovered after her teeth were extracted and BOOM! we fell in love and have been together for 4 years. How about your kitty? And how are you feeling now, Shelley?

Oh no, Tammy. That’s so hard. What symptoms did Emmett have? It’s good to share information like that with our community, so we can be aware. Did you have in-home euthanasia or was he at the vet already? When did it happen? I am so very sorry :-(…..Let us know how you are coming along. HUGS
              • He was fine when I left for work that morning. But my mom called me at 10 to say he was vomiting and breathing hard. By the time I got home he didn’t want to move.i took him to the emergency vet and they found a massive tumor with fluid all around it. They said they could have done surgery but that it was an aggressive tumor and would only give him an extra 3 months! So I decided to end his suffering. I snuggled with him as he passed. This happened 6 weeks ago.
