Martha, many of us here are facing our first holiday season without our beloved companions. So many memories are stirred on holidays, hopefully happy ones, but there is a profound sense of loss, too. I’d like to share ideas for coping through the season in our group gathering this evening. The link is below. If you can’t join us there, let’s share thoughts here in the community. Raina’s spirit will always be with you, and I hope you find comfort knowing she had a wonderful life with you and is now comfortable. {{HUGS}} Toni

Karen, oh boy, I know…we all feel your pain and loss-the emptiness and quiet and just the horrible crater in your heart and soul. I am so very sorry. It’s the darndest thing that they are only “on loan” to us , yet own us forever, isn’t it? The sadness of parting is hard to explain, but you say it beautifully. Buddy might have a different message though, wanting you to hold your good times and loving as treasures, to have you think of him with nothing but joy and love and appreciation. To find smiles before tears with his memory. Karen, Thursday night this week, Oct. 20th, we’re having a group meeting on Zoom and I hope you will come join us to talk about Buddy and your lives together. The link is below. It really helps to know you have others of us who understand and care. Please, do continue to share how you are doing here. We’re with you Honey.

April, Hi :-). I understand missing your beloved Bandit, and am so sorry. I said goodbye to my Beauty Girl in February and every day I pet and talk to the canvas art piece I had made of my favorite photo of her. We’d love to see some pictures of your Bandit, and hear about your lives together: How you met, what you enjoyed together, how old he was…. anything you’d like to share with us. Please join our monthly group meeting Thursday October 20th at 8 PM Eastern (5 Pacific) and tell us about Bandit. Here is the link:

        Sending you my Sympathy, Toni

        • @coldonions Diana, I am so sorry for your loss of Jasmine. Are you doing okay? Please tell us about Jasmine-what kind of pet was she, how did you meet, share some pictures of your lives together. And please, let us know how you are. Toni

How wonderful of you to volunteer at the rescue, Lorraine. That is so important. I adopted my Beauty Girl I was fostering for medical care. Same story – we fell in love and there was no way she was going back to the shelter! She died this February and you are right, this holiday season will be much emptier without her. I am sad Vinnie was so young. That’s extra hard. But it’s good you have your others to share love with. I hope they are doing okay – they no doubt miss Vinnie too. Thank you for sharing your story and the pictures. We’d love to meet Bear and the other kits, too. Toni
          • Join Colorado Pet Pantry on October 8th when they Raise the Woof! (and raise funds) to help feed hungry Colorado pets! For every $5 raised Colorado Pet Pantry is able to feed a cat or dog for one month- giving families more resources to be able to care for pets with the goal of keeping them out of shelters and with their families. Last year, the Colorado Pet Pantry provided over 6 MILLION meals to hungry pets in need. This year, they aspire to reach that goal again, and they invite you to join them and RAISE THE WOOF!

Help Colorado Pet Pantry achieve this goal by attending their second annual fundraiser event- Raise the Woof! Rooftop Party for a Cause- Presented by LHM Nissan Arapahoe- on October 8th. Held on the beautiful rooftop of X Denver in downtown Denver, the event will feature: Denver band The Dollhouse Thieves; Emcee Mia Voss; drinks by Tito’s Handmade Vodka; wine by La Crema; nonalcoholic refreshments; silent and live auctions; a liquor pull; and heavy hors d’oeuvres by X Denver. Doors will open at 4pm and close at 9pm. Tickets are still available, but limited- click here to purchase.

2021 was Colorado Pet Pantry’s 8th year of exponential growth. They had their first Wooftop Party for a Cause, which was a huge success, and reached several new communities with pet food assistance in many parts of Colorado. Now in 2022, they are working to stabilize this growth. They have been securing their commitments and relationships to the new areas they added, and making sure they can sustainably continue to help all the families and their pets moving well into the future. As part of their goal to continue to operate in all the areas they inhabit today, they need to Raise the Woof! I mean, raise some funds at their annual fundraiser!

Your attendance for an evening of fun and fundraising on October 8th would mean the world to them and the pets that they serve.

Marybeth, I am crying for, and with you. I have thought of you, Drake and your family every day. What a lovely and loving gift of joy and sharing you all gave Drake. Here’s what I know- in our heads we know Drake is at peace, out of pain and you shared a wonderful life together. In our hearts, it’s painful, lonely, the house is empty. It takes time, yes, and you will find smiles before your tears. We are here for you with caring and understanding. I hope you will keep us updated on how you are all doing, and that you might join our online group meeting October 20th at 8pm Eastern. The link will be in that week’s email, and posted here.
Also, please create a lasting memorial to Drake. It’s only $10. and I find it helpful to have one for my Beauty Girl (who died in February). https://www.faithfulfriends.com/memorials/

                  • Attended a Blessing of the Pets with a friend today at St. Mary\’s Anglican Catholic Church. Father Kevin Bell gave a charming service and blessed the pets. It was charming. Perhaps your local churches or pet funeral homes offer a blessing.

Oh Wendy, just July. That’s so recently and you must be still very sad and sore. But I hope you aren’t sorry to have loved Layla, to have shared her life and given each other great joy. This is the hard part of loving-the parting. But, we get to keep them with us in our memories and hearts. Wendy, I hope one day soon you will think of Layla and smile, smile, smile before you have tears. She would want that for you, don’t you think? Stay with us here. We understand, and care. Toni

Truth. ell your grandson the truth. Our pets, just like everything – really, everything, only get to exist in physical form for awhile, but their energy and memories and Love are everlasting. Look at trees this time of year-every leaf must change and fall. Maybe he will understand that. Oh Dianne, it IS empty and quiet. I think that is one of the hardest things – she isn’t there to talk and cuddle and just be there with you. That’s why I found even a stuffed toy so helpful for me – something to fill some empty space, to hold on to and talk to and cry on…..it’s why we’re here with you. We can never. no one can, take the place of Princess, but we share your pain and sadness. We’re here with you to care and know the depth of your pain. And, we know, as do you, how tremendously lucky you and Princess were to have the quality of love and life you shared. Please think of how fortunate you both were, and are, to have shared your lives. It’s sort of all we can hope for, isn’t it? I am, we all are, thinking of you with sympathy ……. HUG HUG HUG Toni
                        • @wendymae Hi Wendy, and welcome to our caring community. Please tell us about your pet – was it Layla? We’d love to see some pictures, and here your stories. Are you doing okay?

                          • Hey Toni, Layla was with me 14 years. She crossed the Rainbow Bridge July 2022. Still miss her terribly.

Dianne, I questioned how I would get through my loss, and very unexpectedly, ended up taking care of a friend’s cat for three months. I can tell you that was exactly what it took to help me, even though I wasn’t “ready” for a new friend (so I thought). Maybe you can visit a shelter to visit with pets who would love some company, not to adopt them yet, but to remind you of the many loving lives who will enjoy your time and attention,, But it has only been four days, and Dianne, geez, you hurt. Princess is such a part of your life and always will be, and life without her will be so much different. But she enjoyed the long, loving time you shared, and it’s on us to honor our beloveds by remembering the many gifts they gave us. What a shame our pets are only ‘on loan’ to us, but, we will all pass on from here, and want those left behind to be grateful and happy for the time we had together. I know, really know, how horrible you feel and how hard this is. I, and we in our community, feel the depth of pain you are feeling, and I want you to know, you can think of the good, fun, funny and silly times, and find some comfort there. Our next group meeting is October 20th. I hope to see you there. And, please read the October newsletter for the link. In honor of my Beauty Girl, for only $10. you can post a lasting memorial to Princess on our site. I hope you do and find comfort in that. {{SYMPATHY}} Toni

I know, Susan-it’s empty and you hurt. A lot. Try to think of something silly or funny Teddy Bear did. It can be hard to look at pictures, but they can bring back some smiles, too.
In memory of my Beauty Girl, we’re offering lasting Memorials for only $10. Why don’t you make one for Teddy Bear that you can visit and add to: https://www.faithfulfriends.com/memorials/
It’s getting cool enough for me to wear me sweatshirt with my Beauty Girl on it and that makes me feel better. Maybe you would too. https://www.faithfulfriends.com/shop/unisex-sweatshirt/
If you have a shelter nearby, perhaps you can visit with the cats-I’ve been thinking of doing that. Find a shelter near you here: https://www.faithfulfriends.com/find-services/
Put in your city and use the drop-down menu.
If you read through some of the comments here in our community, you might feel better sharing your own words of sympathy with others. It means a lot to know people understand and care. Please let us know how, and what, you are doing. Our next Group meeting is Oct. 20th at 8 pm Eastern. Please join us then. I’ll be thinking of you.
