Cherie, there is no time line for grief, and this time of year is especially difficult, bringing up memories of past holidays. I really hope you will allow yourself to remember the good times, the fun and funny times, to be happy for the years you and Peanut shared. We all have to leave one day, and knowing Peanut had a great life of love with you might bring you happiness if you let it. And you do have to allow yourself to feel happy – it can sometimes feel guilty to be happy with memories – but it doesn’t have to be that way. Peanut would want you remember her with joy and celebrate your lives, wouldn’t she? So Cherie, please let yourself be happy for the precious gift of your time together. And the time you have now with your other sweet babies. They are loving you too, now. Please let us know how you are coming along. Thank you for that, Linda. It’s what I feel, and we know – our time together is never long enough, but there is a ‘season’ for each of us and helping our beloveds find comfort and peace is a great gift we can bestow, from love and selflessness. Linda, How hard it is to give the final act of kindness – relief and release. It is selfless love that let you help Maggie May find comfort and peace. We wish we could have them with us forever but they are only “on loan” to us, to share joy and total love. I am so sorry for your parting, and happy for the lives you shared. Toni -

Sally, you have lost so much this year, how could you not cry? And Lorraine is right – the holidays trigger so many memories that stir deep emotions. We are all happy for the lives we spent together and know how much love and joy we got to share. But the trade off is the pain of parting. I said goodbye in February and I really think I can have a nice holiday season knowing the love and care we had for each other. I hope you do, too. Oh geez Maria-Catharina. I totally get it. My girl was 18 when she died this February. She was quite unwell and it was her time to go, but boy that hurts. Tsumi was so beautiful, and I can see her sweetness and intelligence. It’s just a shame they are only “on loan” to us and we have to part. I hope you think of the wonderful life you shared and find smiles before tears with her memories. I am so very sorry. I thank you sharing her pictures with us. Lyllice, we each have to be ready to open our homes and hearts to another new love. Take your time until it’s right for you. That said, I was not planning on having another faithful friend when my Beauty Girl died in February and ‘lo and behold, Boots came into my life. He was everything she wasn’t – young and feisty and big. It helped me heal so much. I hope you find the same. Keep us posted, and stay open to more joy. Toni -

Diana, I am so so sorry. It hasn’t been very long, and you have lost so many in recent years. I understand a “special connection” – the pain of parting leaves a huge hole in your soul. I hope your other cats bring you comfort. They are mourning, too and need your comfort.
