I am so sorry, Michelle, and am sending you my deepest sympathy.💔Luigi and the others are mourning alongside you. Luigi sounds like a very sensitive soul. Saying goodbye is the “down side” of loving, and getting through the grief of loss is helped by having others with whom to share it. I say “joy shared is joy doubled, grief shared is grief halved”. You are welcome to bring Luigi and the others to our onlne group meeting Thursday Sep. 21st if you like. Please let us know how you are coming along, Michelle. We’ll be thinking of you. Toni

Of course you are not okay, Teresa. It is such a recent loss and your house is empty without Muffin. That is brutally painful. Do you have family or friends with whom you can visit? Maybe stay with for a little bit? If not, can you get out of the house for a few hours each day, perhaps sit in a park? Anything to fill in the hole that has been left. I found sleeping with a stuffed toy helpful. Watch silly things on TV. Keep moving if you can. I mopped the floors over and over just to keep busy. Teresa, in our heads we know our pets are only “on loan” to us, never for long enough. It’s our hearts that ache when their lives have run their course. When you are able, can you think of Muffin’s life like a ruler with each of her 11 years as an inch. Up until the very last part of that ruler, Muffin shared a great life of love and joy with you. Perhaps thinking of that will help. Also, you could write notes to Muffin, then write what her response to you would be. I bet she’d be grateful for the life you shared and want you to be happy for having her in your life. Please keep in touch with us, and come to our group Sep. 21st. I am so very sorry, Teresa, and we are here to help you through this. 💔💔Toni

Allison, I will, we will, be thinking of you both with love. If you want to, please feel safe and welcome to share with us here. I took pictures of my babies and clipped some of their fur. I brought small scissors and a plastic bag, but most doctors can clip fur for you. Now, that’s just something important to me, you may have other ways in which to memorialize Kush. 💔💔💔💔Toni

It’s amazing how time truly does go by so quickly. Grief heals in it’s own time and you are doing what you can by moving through it day by day. This may sound silly but can you watch some cute baby animal videos or visit a shelter? I find comfort knowing there are new lives to be enjoyed after we’ve said goodbye to our beloveds. Not that you should adopt, but just to get a dose of youthful exuberance. Let us know if you do that, and always keep us updated. Will we get to meet you at this month’s group meeting? The link is under “Events”. I feel as if we know you because you are so kind in supporting so many others here. 🤗💔Toni
          • @teresasegars I am so sorry for your loss, Teresa. Muffin. The name makes me smile. What kind of pet was Muffin? How did you meet? How long were you together? May we hear about Muffin and see some photos? Are you doing okay, Teresa? Not so good? We’re here for you with sympathy and understanding. Toni

            • Muffin was shitzu and havanese. I adopted her 11 years ago. She was my whole life and I’m not ok at all. It started out with her eye having a infection. Took her to the vet and the vet didn’t really check her but a tech did. Sent her home with antibiotics and predizone. She quit eating and then quit drinking water. I still don’t know what really happened to her. She passed on labor day and there was no vets open. Couldn’t afford to take her miles away to a emergency vet. I’m on a fixed income. I had planned to take her the day after Labor Day but she didn’t make it. I’m not ok at all. She loved me unconditionally and was always happy to see me. I’m all alone now

Allison, I am so sorry. Watching our little darlings fail is brutal and breaks your heart every minute. Have you scheduled euthanasia? May I say that the actual passing is a release and relief for Kush and I think you will feel good knowing she isn’t suffering any more. You are keeping your promise to always do what is best for her, and helping her have a peaceful passing is the most loving, kind gift you can give her. Your heart is already breaking, and it will be painful to be home without her. May I suggest you not get rid of her things too quickly? Maybe put them away somewhere for awhile and one day you may want to pull them out, or donate them, but I regretted getting rid of everything too quickly. Do you have someone to be with you? Do you have another pet? If so, they will be mourning, too, and I hope you find comfort and support in each other. If not, I found a stuffed toy helped me. We are right here for you, Allison. Let us know what’s going on, and how you are. Please join us Thursday Sep. 21st in our group meeting. I am sending you my deepest sympathy 💔💔Toni
                  • @momee Hi Maureen. Just checking to see how you are doing now? {{HUGS}} Toni

                    • Good morning Toni. Thank you for checking in with me. I am still taking things one day at a time. Some days are better than others. It has been 8 months now since I lost Romeo and I just don’t know where the time has gone. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever been through and I am still so heartbroken. I know there are so many others suffering the loss of their fur babies too and my heart breaks for them, as well.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness. Huge hugs to you too.

                        • Hi Toni, I have been watching videos about rescue groups and also shelters. Sometimes watching about the shelter dogs makes me sad because of the conditions they are living in. I want to go to my local shelter to see if I can get a cuddle in, but, I am allergic to shedding animals and have that concern. But, I do think I need to go somewhere to visit these poor babies. I would love to be able to sit with a scared baby and tell them it will be okay, but, like I said, I have allergies. I think maybe, ‘just take a allergy pill and do it Maureen’ 🤷
I still can’t think of ever getting another dog. My age and health are concerns. But, being around them might give me the joy I so miss.
I want to let you know that I have a hard time connecting with this site and I will try to get in on one of the group meetings soon. I would love to meet all of you. Meanwhile, I will continue my support of others whenever I can.
Thank you, again, for your support xx
                          • That’s a brilliant idea, Maureen, if your allergies can withstand the exposure. I’m going to start fostering again. Like you, I am not ready to adopt but miss having furry ones around :-). Let us know what happens. Toni
                          • @motherofbulldogs Hello Stephanie, and welcome to our caring community. Clearly you are an animal lover, having said goodbye to Cliff, Leo and Douggie. We’re here for you with sympathy and undertanding. Please join our monthly group meeting Sep. 21st at 7PM EST. The links and schedule are under “Events” on the right side of this page. Karon, Thank you for sharing your touching and inspirational story. You have touched a lot of hearts and I appreciate the time you gave to tell us about Serenity and Einstein. Yes, our animals grieve alongside us and we support each other through those terribly painful times. This is why we are here – to listen to stories about life with our beloved pets, and to support one another as we mourn, and recover. Please continue to share with us, and give Einstein some good lovin’ from me 😻🤗💕. We’ll be waiting to hear from you. {{HUGS}} Toni
                            • @maryannstad Maryann, I am so sorry for your loss of Dolly. Oh Julie, Max is still within your heart and it hasn’t been very long for you to live without his presence in your home. It’s undertandable, and truly okay for you to feel the pains you do, and to cry. In fact, crying is good for you, to get rid of the sad toxins created by grief. So Julie, may I offer a way to navigate through this terribly hurtful time? Can you think of the times you shared with Max that were good, fun and loving, and see how many of those you shared and enjoyed? Perhaps that will help give a perspective. Our pets are only “on loan” to us, never for long enough, and we can honor our time together by recalling and celebrating all of the fabulous time we were allowed to share. I hope that helps you a bit, and I invite you to join our group meeting Sep. 21st to share more about Max with us. We’re here for you. {HUGS} Toni
                              • @amo527 Hi Amy. I am sorr for your loss of Mabel and hope you are doing alright – are you? What kind of pet was Mabel? What a fun name – how did she get it? We’d love to hear more about your life with Mabel, and please share some photos if you like. Toni

                              • @lissa13 Sable. What a pretty name. Was Sable black, Melissa? What kind of pet was Sable? How did you meet? May we hear about your lives together, see some pictures? We’re here for you, Melissa. Toni

                              • @semisweet11 Hello Deanna, and welcome to our caring community. I am so sorry for your loss of Cody and hope you are doing okay. Are you? May we hear about Cody, and see some photos if you like? Toni

Sally, I still choke up when I see pictures of my dear old Squirt, and she’s been gone decades. The love doesn’t go away, and while the acute pain fades, a little pain and melancholy accompanies the memories of all the wonderful times we shared. You have lost so many loves in such a short period, it’s undertsandable that you are moved to tears. It’s okay to cry – in fact, it helps clear toxins from our bodies. Anniversaries stir up strong emotions, too and I encourage you to join our group meeting Sep. 24th in anticipation of Ooky’s. A nice suggestion from one of our members: in addition to marking the anniversary of the date of parting, celebrate the date of birth or adoption! I think that’s lovely and hope that brings you a bit of comfort. We’ll be here for you. {{HUGS}} Toni
