Cindy, What a sweet picture. Thank you for sharing her with us. Is she a dachsund, or a mix? It really hasn’t been very long since you said goodbye to Malea DeLynn and I hope you are slowly finding your smiles in memory of her come more frequently than your tears? Please let us know how you are healing, and how we might support you.
      • Thank you..she was a dapple doxie and just the sweetest baby..we rescued her February 2012. They estimated she was around 4..it was love at first sight..we only had the joy of loving her for 4 years 9 months and 12 days..we lost her to CHF and enlarged heart..she also had a category 4/5 heart murmur and a mitral valve leak..she had been diagnosed a little over 2 years ago so between medicine and love I got to have her a little longer..I still cry every day for her..I miss her beyond words..I do smile when I look at her pictures and videos but my heart is so shattered..taking it a day at a time..
          • Cindy, our community member and friend, Chuck, lost his dog Dexter to CHF, too. Is there a way to diagnose it early, and can it be treated? And yes, one day, one moment, at a time. We never forget, but we do get to have the fun, loving memories one day.
              • Hers was discovered when I asked them to check her heart murmur before she got a vaccination and that’s when they did an x-ray that showed an enlarged heart..she was put on vetmedin which is an amazing medication..in January of 2020 she had an episode where she was panting so hard that I took her to a cardiologist and that’s when he diagnosed her with CHF on the left side of her heart and the mitral valve leak..he added lasix, enalapril and aldactone which made all the difference in her.. unfortunately she was in category C..but with medication and diet and love she survived for 7 more months..if they did heart transplants in animals I was willing to do that..she deserved all that I could do for her..you know that saying if live could have saved you she would still be here..she left paw prints all over my heart.
                  • Cindy, Thank You so much for sharing these details. It may help others of us. Goodness – you really did all you could, and I hope you know that. I want to say more, but let’s check in tomorrow. I’m thinking of you, and would like to introduce you to @chuck, who is also a community member, whose dog, Dexter, also had CHF. Your sharing is so important and meaningful and helpful, Cindy. Thank you.

@chloelucy Christine, is that a picture of Dukie? Is he a Russian Blue? What a handsome fellow. I am very sorry for your loss. I feel a special affection for Dukie having had a cat that looks very much the same. How are you, Christine?

              • Toni, thank you yes he is a Russian Blue yes he is a ham he had asthma and it got the better of him I doing fine i just miss him alot i see other cats that look like him and i just want to 😢 he is always by our side thou
                • Of course, Christine. Even a stroll down the pet food aisle can trigger a lot of emotion, so seeing a look-alike is tough. Will you adopt again, or do you have other pets?
                    • I have 3 other rescue cats and a rescue dog if i could adopt all the animals i wanted i would i see cats outside and i want to bring them in but i cant. That would be way to many kitties
                        • Awww.. That’s so nice of you Christine..I would love to have a big place to bring in all animals who need a home, too. We do what we can, and help where and how we can, right? You are great. Thank you for being a part of our community. 🙂

Your last sentence is so true for us. Thank you for sharing Jolie’s story. I brought my cat home to medically foster her after all but one of her teeth had been extracted, and she was not doing well. We fell in love and have been together for four years. She is soon to be 17 and has a number of health challenges we are treating. Like Jolie, she sleeps with her backside in my face. I think she’s trying to “snufficat” me :-). It’s so kind of you to have given, and shared, a nice life with Jolie. Do you still have Libby?
                        • Sorry, Toni, I have just seen this!
I just posted something on the REMEMBER site. and lit a candle for Jolie.
YES!!!! we still have Libby and she has settled in nicely with us. I JUST WISH she would navigate the stairs to the bedroom and outside by herself. SHE IS GETTING HEAVY for me to carry up and down. she scoots down and up the deck stairs to the backyard like a CHAMP. but not the other stairs. Have to figure out how to train her to do the steps by herself!
other than that she has become our little girl. But Jolie is still remembered when we say goodnight and at other times of the day.
                          keep in touch!!!

Elizabeth, you did everything you could medically. And releasing Savanna from her suffering is the highest form of unselfish loving. When you are up to it, will you tell us what symptoms we should look for in our pets? What were Savanna’s? Are those problems especially prevalent in Lhasa Apso’s? And please, Elizabeth, keep us posted on how you are doing.

Chuck, this is so lovely, and loving. You may find a Memory Vessel meaningful. There are two compartments for fur or remains, along with a USB Flash Drive for photos. They are a nice way to keep physical and digital memories together. I don’t know if a pendant of blown glass with Dexter’s remains is something you might treasure, but Forever-in Glass pieces are so unique, and incorporate remains in hand-blown art work. You can look in the Shop area of our community to find these, and other comforting memorials if you want. Chuck, I am so glad you found us, and that you are a part of our family of pet lovers. You know we’re here for you. Toni

@jmberg127 Hi JoAnne. I love the names Riley and Doodlebird. So different – What type of pets were they? I am sorry they had to leave you, but wonder if you will share their stories and pictures with us? And, we want to know how you are and how we can help. Toni

So sweet, Kelly. Sixteen is very good, but there is never enough time, is there? My adopted cat is going to be 17 in March and we are working hard to keep her going. You might like to know about Memory Vessels – there are two compartments – for remains or fur, and a USB flash drive to store photos and videos, all on one beautiful pendant. You can find them in the Shop on this website.
But that’s beside the point – your shadow box is touching and I love it. Keep us posted, reach out to others of our community who are also remembering beloved pets, and let us know how you are doing. Hugs and pets, Toni
