Susan, not only is the sentiment true, the puppy in the picture is too adorable. I will suggest that people who have any furry, finned, feathered or scaled friend awaiting is a lucky human ๐ Don’t you think? My cat always runs to greet me – I think she really wants a tummy rub and back scratch, but like to think she’s happy to see me……… -

Tabetha, anniversaries and holidays, especially the first year, can be brutal with the memories they stir. I hope you will allow yourself to acknowledge and express your grief at this time more than ever. I am sure even little things trigger big emotions and there’s nothing for it but to feel it. I suspect Ladybug would, and does, send you her gratitude for a life of love you shared, and wants you to have smiles before tears when you think of her, and the 18 wheeling fun….We’re here for you not only at this time, but always, and I hope you will touch base often, even if, maybe especially if, you are hurting. I’ll be thinking of you, and hope this {HUG} helps you a little bit. Toni -

You have every reason to be angry and still in tremendous pain, Cathy. I can’t speak to what happened at the vet, but the shock and loss would bring any of us to our knees. Would you like to speak with a trained, professional grief counselor? Glenn Swain (Rev. but non-denominational) has made his services available to our community at a discount. You can click here to schedule with him if you like: https://www.faithfulfriends.com/grief-counseling/
It seems to me you are dealing with two distinct, powerful challenges: Sadness and despair at Sheba’s passing and all the strong emotions any death of a beloved pet carries; and flat out anger at the result of the barium. Perhaps you could discuss the procedure she had with some other veterinarians – they may be able to explain how and why that happened. Please, let us know what you do, and what you find out, and how you are moving through this. I am so very sorry. Toni -

Oh Kathy, I am so sorry and understand. It really isn’t that long since July, and I think holidays bring up memories and strong emotions. It sounds as if you took wonderful care of, and showered lots of love on Prince. He looks so happy in the photo. Do you know if he was a Russian Blue? I had a cat that looked like Prince who was a Russian Blue. Kathy, if you like, in our Shop we have a book/journal – “Griffin’s Heart” – written by a lovely gal who had a tough time working through her grief when her beloved cat, Griffin, passed. I think it may help you. https://www.faithfulfriends.com/shop/griffins-heart-pet-loss-book/
It’s good that you know we are here for you to talk with, to share your pain, and I hope your smiles come before tears soon. Please keep us posted on how you are doing, and feel welcome to share more photos with us. Sending you {HUGS}. Toni -

Dianne, how are things going for you all? I didn’t know you had Princess and Oscar, too. It’s nice to see all three of their pictures. Thank you for sharing those with us. -

No one will question your decisions, Dianne. We all make what we hope are the best choices. I wonder if you could give her to a rescue or shelter where they may be able to get her in shape, and adopted? Was Waggle.org able to help you? They may be able to pay the vet for her. https://www.waggle.org/ -

I’m doing everything I can for my girl, with medicines and foods and treatments, but nothing is going to stop time – for any of us – and that’s a harsh reality. We have to love and linger in the times we have together. I, we here in our community, share the sadness and pain of the parting process, and I am so grateful for everyone who shares their stories and understanding with us. And….I am so grateful she is still with me, and seems to be doing okay for now :-)… Please, let us know how you and yours are doing. We are here for you.

How nice of you to take Skippy in to your home and heart, Nancy. It’s “good/bad” to have been together do long – we share so much over the years, and saying goodbye is bitter-sweet when they are at an advanced age. We know in our heads that we shared a wonderful long life of love and it was good for them, but we miss their presence, company and love so much. If you would like to share more about your lives together, and some pictures, we would really love to share those with you. By the way, were Skippy and your cat close friends? How is your cat doing? -

Oh Nancy, I am sorry to hear about your Skippy. When did you meet him? Were you together for all those years? What kind of pet was Skippy? May we see some pictures?-
Skippy was not quite a year old when I got him. He was a stray and such a cute little guy. We were best friends slept with me and my Bengal cat for all those years. He was a Jack Russell.

Hooray! Poor little thing, and poor YOU for the terrible worry. Hopefully she learned a lesson and won’t do that again ๐ -

Dianne, can you call your animal control people (our phone umber is 311 – I don’t know if you have the same system) and ask them to patrol your area? She may be under a porch, or maybe someone let her in their house. A cat of mine once got stuck in the roof eave across from me. It was terrible because I could hear her crying but didn’t know where she was. They get into the darndest places. Let us know what’s going on. -

Dave, how are you two coming along? I’m sure you are still in pain, but hope each day brings more smiles than tears. We’re thinking of you. -

Dianne, I am so happy to hear your update. I think of you and George every day, and think it’s because my old girl has similar problems. She had blood in her stool again a few weeks ago and there were no parasites, so we’ve added another dose of antibiotic. She has so many health challenges….But! It sounds as if George has a single issue that may be controllable once you identify what’s going on. Just curious – have you contacted Waggle.org and have they helped you? Thank you Dianne, for letting us know, and please let us know what you find out. Toni -

@rrneal67 Hello Rick, and welcome to our caring community of pet and animal lovers. I am so sorry for your loss of Oliver (love that name) and I wonder how you are doing – okay, I hope? Will you tell us about Oliver, and your lives together? How you met, what kind of pet was he, anything you would like to share. If you have photos, we love to see those. Please let us know how you are doing, Rick.

OH! Carla, may we see a picture, or pictures of Miracle? -
Toni Noel posted a new activity comment 4 years, 9 months ago
Carla, you HAVE been through a lot of loss and it’s understandable that you are not doing okay. If you like, we have a wonderful counsellor about grief – Glenn Swain of Heartfelt Farewells – who works with some of our community. It may be helpful for you to contact him. (Click ‘Our Friends’ at the bottom of this page to get to his information). I really understand how you and Miracle were connected. You went through so many good, great, and really terrible times together. Was he ill? Was dying a relief and release for him? If so, that’s one of the hardest, yet best, ways to say goodbye – knowing Miracle is not suffering. Whatever the reason for his passing, you are now suffering the emptiness of your home and heart, and that is so very painful. You need time, and support from those of us who truly understand the depth of your grief, to move forward. Little things – everything – carries a memory, and you should allow yourself the kindness to feel both the pain, and the joy those memories bring, knowing you would not have lived without the love, even though the pain is so hard. Talk to Glenn, and to us, and let us know how you are coming along. I will be thinking of you, and along with everyone here, sending you heartfelt sympathy. Here is a {HUG} for you. -

I am so sorry you and Kee had to go through what you did. It’s so hard to know they are sick, to watch them fail, especially since they are so uncomplaining and sweet even though they are so unwell. Each day is a gift, and clouded with sorrow, when we know there is illness. Death is a relief and release for them, and devastating for us. I am truly very sad for your loss. May I ask what kind of pet Kee was? Were there symptoms you can share with us, to help us know what to look for? If you are up to sharing some photos of Kee, we’d love to see them. Compere, please let us know how you are doing. In our shop, we offer a boo/journal “Griffin’s Heart” that many have found helpful in working through the grief. I’ll be thinking of you.
