Well, since my cat only has one tooth, I’m not familiar, but know many dogs who love Greenies. Good for tooth cleaning. Is it just the Greenies, or are other things not sitting well? -

Yes, I get that, Martha. Did you know the chemicals in tears are different when they are from joy vs. grief? Tears can release ‘negative’ chemicals to help heal. Even though my old girl is doing okay now, sometimes I am overcome by tears from deep within – it’s not something we control, nor should we. I think we should each write down a happy memory every day and one day, you’ll be smiling (possibly through tears, but happy for the time you had together). It takes time, Martha. And these darned holidays just don’t help, do they? -

You should still be very emotional – it’s only been a week. You are wrestling with so many thoughts and feelings, and the only way to go is straight through, which you are doing . That’s why we’re here for and with you – to let you share and get it all out. Hang in there, Dianne. -

@peanutandpixie Hello and welcome to our caring community, Margaret. “Peanut” – the name makes me smile. I am so sorry for your loss and hope you are okay – are you? What kind of pet was Peanut? May we hear some stories, and see some pictures? Please let us know how you are doing.

Dianne, of course you are still reeling. It’s only been a very short time since George is gone. And in such a shocking way. I still think it was her destiny – that she was compelled to go out. Guilt comes naturally after an experience like yours, but I think you are the only one seeing it that way. She was ailing and is now at peace. I shared the story of my dear little kitten, Nicki, who never went out and one night threw herself out the door and got hit and killed. I know how guilty I felt, but truly think they have a design of their own. It’s good to have you share your feelings with us. Please let us know, as often as you like, how you are doing. Share some more pictures, and tell us about Oscar, Princess and Irish. How many cats do you have? It’s wonderful of you to share with them and I hope they are bringing you some comfort. HUGS…Toni-
I have two cats. The reason I believe Irish is staying inside is to comfort Oscar. He loved George too.
I am beginning to accept the fact that George wanted to go out, because she was ready to go on her terms. And maybe she did.I am trying my best to cope.-

Martha, It’s good to hear from you and have you share with us. It’s only been three months since you and Missy parted, and I think the holidays bring up memories that trigger strong emotions – good, and sad. You are always welcome to share more pictures of Missy with us, and if you think a lasting Memorial for her will be healing and helpful, you can create and maintain one in our Memorial tab: https://www.faithfulfriends.com/memorials/.
It took me a long time to welcome a new love into my heart, but I am so filled with her love now that I am glad the time finally came for us. Maybe one day you will be ready, maybe not. Right now you are moving through your grief and missing her among friends who understand and care. We want to hear from you, and about you. I hope this {HUG} carries my sympathy. Stay in touch with us, Martha.-
Thank you Toni. The tears just will not stop. Even when I am not consciously thinking about her they come. I wake up with my pillow wet with them.

Martha, are you doing a bit better?
-
Thank you Toni. Some days I think I am doing better but then, I am right back to crying.
-
Yep. That is relatable, and understandable, Martha. I think it’s because the love we share is truly at a deep, soulful level – cellular in a way, and the tears really do come from a place that is different. You stay with us, we’re here for, and with you.
-
OH! would you share more pictures of Missy with us if you have some?

Shawn, I am, we are, so happy to hear from you again. It’s been a few months and I am sure the holidays make you think of, and miss, Uno and Midnight. Do you have family and friends you can be with? Someone with pets you can love on? Shawn, do think you will welcome another pet into your home and heart? You know, you are always welcome to share more pictures and stories about Uno and Midnight with us – we love that, and maybe it will be good for you to revisit your times together with us. We understand how little things can trigger big feelings, how the seasons bring memories, and we are here for you. I’m sending you a {HUG}… -

Geri, when you love a lot, you lose a lot, too. Sometimes it seems to come in bunches. In a three year period I lost my father, husband, 19 year old cat, and my mother. It was like living in a cycle of grief. Now I am on edge about my 18 year old cat, but remind myself to enjoy our time together because no amount of my worrying will keep time from moving and life progressing. Just as we need to allow ourselves to enjoy, we need to grieve so we can heal, everyone in their own way and their own time. Thank you for sharing your stories, and sharing your sympathy and understanding with others. Toni -

THIS is why we created Faithful Friends – to share our stories and seek, and send, our support when facing or going through the most difficult times (and to celebrate our happy times). While we don’t like to part from our beloveds, we wouldn’t miss the loving, fun times we shared. And adopting an animal to provide a wonderful home is such a kind, generous thing to do, we keep doing it even after saying goodbye to others. I learn a lot from my pets – Live ’til you die. And if life becomes too challenging, we give them the grace of a peaceful passing. Love isn’t hard, love doesn’t go away when they do, it just hurts in a deep part of our soul. And one day, a memory will bring smiles and warmth to you, what our pets intended all along. Please continue to reach out to others here with YOUR stories, and support. Not just at this season, but always, be grateful for your time with your pets. We are grateful to have you be a part of our caring community. Tobi

Yes, this is so hard, Dianne. Even if you had looked for her, she was probably already gone. Oscar and Princess, like you, will be missing her. Seeing places she used to go will bring her to mind, and your sadness and pain will take time to heal. One day, you will find yourself smiling with her memory, but not just now. Share lots of love and sympathy with Oscar and Princess, and let them love you back. I am so sorry. -

@pugmom4 Hello Daphne, and welcome to our caring community. Please tell us about Annie Jo. By any chance was she a Pug? (I bought a sweatshirt with a cute pug on it yesterday!). We’d love to see some pictures of her, and hear about your lives together. How are you doing? Toni

Oh Dianne. She seemed to want to go outside lately, didn’t she? I wonder if she was so unwell, she wanted “out” literally. Yes, you feel guilty but I truly think that’s not true. I’ll share my story to tell you why I think you didn’t have a choice about it for her: My kitten Nicki never wanted to go outside. I had to pick her up and take her. One night my cat Chivo came in the sliding doors and Nicki jumped over her to get out – it was very strange for her to do. After awhile, when Nicki didn’t come in, I sent Chivo to look for her and Chivo came back and I knew, just knew, that Nicki had been hit and killed by a car. Guilt is a huge part of what we feel, but I really think Nicki was somehow compelled to go out. That may sound odd, but she NEVER went out on her own, and to jump over Chivo (who was her adopted mother) was way out of character. So, I’m not sure we have the control over their actions as much as we would like. Of course I am, and we all are, just devastated for you, and her. I know how you have worried each moment about her health challenges. I am so sad and sorry, and I hope you will allow yourself to grieve with kindness for yourself, and that soon you will find happiness with the memories you made together. Toni - Load More
