Hey Martha, I have an idea for you. Go to our tab “Find Services”, enter your area, and using the drop-down menu look for shelters and rescues in your area. They are listed and on a map with direct links to their websites. I will be surprised if you can’t find a little baby there :-). Let me know if I can help you. -

It’s okay, Lori. You can cry with us. I know I do many days in anticipation of my girl dying – she’ blind again, and deaf, and with her other health challenges, it is gut wrenching because she is so sweet, never complains and is getting around fine. What troopers they are! At the first sign of distress or discomfort, I will gift her release, but she’s loving and purring, and thankfully mostly oblivious to what to me is just so, so hard to see, and she seems to be doing well …. so, you get through your grief with us, and remember it hasn’t been long for you.
We have a “Paw’d Cast” with Reagan Pasternak, the author of the book/journal “Griffin’s Heart” you may want to listen to. Click the purple microphone at the top right of this page. Reagan had a very hard time grieving her beloved Griffin, so created a way to move through her grief with her book. Take a listen and let us know if that helps you. It’s only been a few weeks, Lori, and we certainly understand the depth of your sorrow. Your tears are coming from a part of your soul and it takes time to find joy in your memories. You will. But for now, please allow yourself to move at your own speed toward healing. We’re right here for you. Maybe sharing a few more pictures of Snickers will bring some smiles. Martha, the hurt from a deep loss is a wound, to the soul and heart, and like a physical wound, the deeper the cut, the longer the healing, so let yourself grieve and your tears pour out to help you heal. Did you ever look into adopting another as you mentioned before? -

I was honored to meet Betty White in California at a Morris Animal Foundation event. She was charming as she warmly visited with me, and graciously accepted my gift of a Memory Vessel. Her unwavering, continuous and generous contributions to animal welfare for decades are inspirational and will continue to inspire us all. I wouldn’t be too sure she didn’t get adopted, Jessica. I adopted a 13 year old and she’ll be 18 in March. Some people only adopt older animals, and I bet someone gave Pritzel a wonderful home and life. That’s a wonderful way to remember her. I have felt bad for the people who had to surrender my cat and they must also wonder what happened to her, but the shelters won’t disclose who the owners were. It would give them comfort to know how much I love her and the good care I share with her. I hope you think the same about Pritzil. -

It has been about 4 years when I had to surrender Pritzel. I had to move because my kids school closed suddenly. And my BF was allergic to cats. It broke my heart. I didn’t want to leave her at a shelter..

She was a senior cat and I knew she wouldn’t get adopted. And I am sure she has passed away.. But it breaks my heart to not know when and to have held her 🐾paw

It’s tough, Shannon, when your special baby dies. I think we do have pets with whom we have a special bond and understanding, and it’s losing a close, dear friend. We’re lucky to have had them add so much to our lives. I am very sorry and hope to hear more from you. -

Oh Donna, How kind, caring, generous and loving are you and your husband, to take in and care for and about so many! It’s so very heartbreaking to say goodbye, but boy the joys and love we share while they are “on loan” to us mean everything.
