I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying…you found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear.
“It’s me, I haven’t left you…I’m well, I’m fine, I’m here.”

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea.
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, you tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you that I am not lying there.
I walked with you toward the house, as you fumbled for your key,
I gently put my paw on you. I smiled and said, “It’s me.”

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there.
It’s possible for me to be so near you every day.
To say to you with certainty, “I never went away.”

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew…
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over…I smile and watch you yawning
And say, “Goodnight, God bless, I’ll see you in the morning.”

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I’ll rush across to greet you and we will stand, side-by-side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out…then come home to be with me.

 ANYTIME Toni!!
Also for the community, dont wait too long to find another furfriend!! The wait in between Jolie & Libby was hard on us because it felt lonely. Grieve is necessary BUT your passing animal would not want you to grieve long. We have TOO MUCH love to give a fur friend!!! We waited almost five months before getting another little one! And we would not have waited that long if Libby came to us sooner!!

When it was time for Jolie to leave us(JULY 22, 2020) we used IN HOME VETERINARY SERVICE.
Robert & Karli Flanagan 302-893-7872.

They set a time to come to our house and send Jolie to Rainbow Bridge. They were professional and sympathetic.
Robert pretty much did the passing on, Karli is the licensed vet(I think).
They gave us as long as we wanted to say goodbye to Jolie. And the procedure took less than 5 minutes.
it was kind of expensive. BUT we didnt want Jolie\'s last moments to be in the back room somewhere, among other
final moment pets. I wanted her to be with us, and the last thing she saw was our faces saying goodbye.
They did an excellent service to us and Jolie. She never felt any pain. and IT WAS QUICK!!

Sorry, Toni, I have just seen this!
I just posted something on the REMEMBER site. and lit a candle for Jolie.
YES!!!! we still have Libby and she has settled in nicely with us. I JUST WISH she would navigate the stairs to the bedroom and outside by herself. SHE IS GETTING HEAVY for me to carry up and down. she scoots down and up the deck stairs to the backyard like a CHAMP. but not the other stairs. Have to figure out how to train her to do the steps by herself!
other than that she has become our little girl. But Jolie is still remembered when we say goodnight and at other times of the day.
keep in touch!!!

Well, since Jolie went to rainbow bridge(July 22, 2020) it was extremely lonely around here. My wife thinks I may have been suffering depression since our girl passed on. I have been retired since 2012. And Jolie has been our companion since that time. We rescued her from my brother in law who thought that his cigarettes and booze was more important than Jolie\’s health and well-being. When he went into NYC housing he was not allowed to bring Jolie. So we took ownership. We had to lay out over $3k in dental and shots and health. The vet said that had we not taken ownership Jolie would have certainly died within months!! Jolie was my constant companion and we had fun. Kidney and liver problems began their attack a year before they took her. I could see her health dwindling and when it came time to let her go I COULD NOT. I probably caused her suffering. I WAS SELFISH!! I couldnt let her go. But a week before we put her down it became obvious that we had to put her down(My eyes are still welling up even now!!! We say goodnight to her every single night since she passed.
BUT HAPPINESS FOUND US ON DECMBER 9, 2020!!! A breeder friend had an 8 year old schnauzer that she was giving away free. She thought of us and brought LIBBY(a mini schnauzer) by and we took ownership of LIBBY. She was an AKC champion for many years and had many pups that became champions. She has taken to us and we have taken to her. She just recently started sleeping in our bed. she has the cutest and funny bark-heave-bark. She wont take place of Jolie but she has become a loving family member. A JOY TO HAVE AROUND and keep me company!!!
I do not have any of Libby\’s pics on my office computer. I probably have 1000s on my phone. I will send one when I transfer them here.
BUT THANK GOD for Libby!!!! Jolie sent a beautiful pet to replace her in our home!!!

Jolie went to rainbow bridge on July 22, 2020. She had kidney and liver failure. IT IS DEVASTATING because my pop in law bought her in 2005. she lived downstairs from us. I taught Jolie how to go up and down the flight of stairs(at least 15 steps. after about a week she would do the stairs up and down. Jolie went from the pop in law to the brother in law and then to us in 2008. We RESCUED Jolie from my bro-in-law because his cigarettes were more important than Jolie. she was years behind on her shots and when we brought her to the vet they removed 12 teeth!!!
BUT we brought her back from the brink! she lived 12 LONG years with us.
Jolie had her pick of where to sit or lay down. Her favorite place to sit was on her daddy’s chest with her butt in my face!! LOL
We still say “GOODNIGHT JOLIE” every night. After saying goodnight to Libby. We got Libby from a breeder. Libby was a champion show dog who had outlived her productivity of pups. So we were the loving furever parents.
So, the grief never left us for Joile. But she is in a better place now. And we will never forget her. We have a shrine in the living room with her ashes and a painting by a friend. and photos of her. We also have a photo taken within 15 months of her birth hanging on the wall above the bedroom steps. I see her every night before I close my eyes and when I walk down in the morning!
The grief gets easier but her memory never leaves us!!!
