Holden left this world after a long struggle with heart disease and recent renal failure. We struggled with maintaining a fine line between the 2 diseases and Holden finally told me that he was ready to stop the fight.
Holden picked me out from 30+ farm cats in the fall of 1997. He was a teeny, 4-week old runt who thought going to Frostburg, Maryland would be a nice change of scenery from Pennsylvania farm life. He moved with me 7 times in his 12 years on this earth - quite a feat for anyone!

Undoubtedly, there will be many more cats in my life. But Holden was certainly one-of-a-kind: he could win over just about anybody. He also realized that he was very special to me and we shared a crazy sort of love.
Because of my faith I know that I will see Holden once again. For now, I will remember this: the times he tried to eat my freshly shampooed hair as I got out of the shower . . . running from one side of the room to the other at full speed, flying up against the wall to slide down and do it all over again . . . laying in the middle of my cross-stitch, trying his hardest to eat the thread . . . eating tinsel off the Christmas tree . . . crawling into my lap as I cried over the death of my maternal grandfather, my beautiful aunt, my paternal grandmother and most recently, my maternal grandmother.
